D@mn it. This is bringing back memories of the 4-0 loss to Brazil in 2007. At least this is in the opening game and not the knockouts. Surely, this is the "kick in the teeth" that they needed.
Sweden shots 19, 9 on goal, and 8 corners in 75 minutes. I'm convinced that this is the 'punch in the gut' that USA needed.
I was about to post that if Sweden were smart, they'd keep attacking down the right side because Rapinoe is not not going to track back--and sure enough there was plenty of space on the right, Dunn was left mostly alone again--and a nice cross from that side puts Sweden up by three.
Hannah Glas, voted best FB in the Bundesliga/Jakobsson, arguably fastest woso player on earth….makes sense as compared to Vlatko trying to make Dunn into another attacker
Foudy just said what I was thinking. With this loss, does Vlatko make the same rotation of players vs New Zealand that he would normally make? The goal difference might be a bigger factor than we thought.
The US actually has 51% of the possession=the very definition of possession without penetration. The team looks like a shadow of itself.
I was just going to point out that, to me, Glas has been excellent both in defense and offense. One of the best ones on the pitch.
Off-topic question. Do the alternates get medals? And if they don't, if one of them makes a game day roster in these COVID Olympics, then do they? Basically just wondering if an alternate makes a game day roster then do they get all of the stuff like the rest of the team?
All alternates are a part of the full roster now, so yes, they medal. In previous Olympics, no, they didn't get a medal as an alternate.
