Just found this on Soccer America's website.... http://www.socceramerica.com/article.asp?Art_ID=562132327 Beautiful.
DAMN!! That makes Mitchel looked absolutely packed! So now we know it's not just the much maligned Long Islanders... Look out Courage fans - Charge fans will be posting polls in your forum calling for your team to move to where your team will be appreciated (like their backyard or something...) and proclaiming how horrible and disgraceful the promotion was and how lousy the stadium is and that no one can find it and... Norma (and that turnout really was disgraceful. Sheesh! Hopefully Sunday will be a much different story.)
Probably later tonight I will start a poll in the Courage forum. "How does Idaho Courage" sound? -------------------- Trying to find some reasons as to why attendance was low.... 1) School night. I'll buy that one maybe. 2) Weather??? They did say it was muggy. *shrugs shoulders* 3) Lack of promotion. Perhaps. 4) The appeal of the USWNT has dropped significantly the past couple of years. God I hope not but I think this may be part of it. 5) Competing events in the Triangle. I have no clue. Preseason hockey has already started . Did the Hurricanes have a game tonight? 6) It's October baby!!! Baseball playoffs!!!
Ain't tix in the $18-$55 range. My friends got tix earlier this week and they didn't pay $55 for tix.
Maybe US soccer needs to stop scheduling back-to-back games in the same venue. If I couldn't afford to go to both games I'd sit out the weekday match and go to the one on Sunday.
Those prices are similar to what you pay to see men's matches. There are several reasons for the attendance figures: 1. It's only a friendly. The US Cup is meaningless. People don't show up for meaningless games, especially given the large number of matches the women (and men) play. Now if we got these numbers at the Gold Cup, that would be a problem. As long as there are enough people for the match to be profitable, it's OK. The men typically draw about 12K for weekday friendlies, even in places like Columbus and DC. 2. 2 games featuring the same teams at the same venue is a bad idea. Most people will come on Sunday. I'd expect to see Sunday's crowd around 5K. 3. Competition. It's not as big a factor as one would presume, but it is a slight factor nonetheless. 4. School Night. This is the major reason. Kids have schoolwork and parents are tired after work. Sunday should be a nice day. Hope to see everyone in the Sams Army section. Sachin
i recant from the mitchell field smack but how the H was i supposed to know that only 2k were gonna show up at cary! and unlike mitchell, cary has had decent (not good but decent) attendance, so this means something is up with the USSF promotion department, $55 is too much money, but there is more than that to this and not one that is comforting to the USWNT or WUSA's future. but ill wait till sunday till i start ranting against whoever was in charge of marketing because based on WUSA numbers alone, the USWNT should be getting 5-6k, no? probley more... but scheduling 2 games in the same venue, one wed. one sunday is asking for very poor attendance on wed. ill hold off for now but it is obvious someone didnt do his or her homework when they sold tickets for these matches. andy, courage ppl, any ads for this game? any word on advance sales.
