Not necessarily Crew history, but today is the 30th anniversary of June 17, 1994. If you haven't seen the ESPN+ documentary, do it.

From being awarded one of MLS's inaugural teams to building a soccer specific stadium to international tournaments, a history of the Columbus Crew. https://www.dispatch.com/story/spor...the-history-of-the-columbus-crew/74120834007/ The scoreboard fire was over 11 years ago. It's definitely been a very fast, and crazy, 11 years.
I very much hope this won't be considered immodest of me, but I thought some of you wouldn't mind the remembrance. I'm not posting this to blow my own horn, and please don't rep me for it. It was never about that. Dona nobis pachem https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/453-minutes.2040368/#post-35252261
And didn't Chicago not want to move their game against us because our players were at his funeral? There was talk about "the funeral is done by 1pm. They could easily hop a charter plane bla bla bla" not realizing the time it would take for the players to go through their pregame rituals. So yeah, all that talk about FC Cincinnati being our main rival... I'd like to think they would have had the common decency to display a tribute and/or reschedule a game against us. FCC fans never committed theft and assault vs Crew fans, at least AFAIK. Piss on the Fy-ure six ways to Sunday now and forever.
FYI, I asked, and it was finally granted--Kirk Urso now has Famous status on Findagrave. If you are a member please vote for him (there's a 1-5 star voting button on the right hand side near the bottom). https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/94908010/kirk-jon-urso
