7-6-2001"Interim" is lifted from Greg Andrulis' title, as GM Jim Smith announces he will remain head coach for the balance of 2001.https://t.co/2dGcu7au62#Crew96 pic.twitter.com/NOYqluzmvT— Columbus Crew History ⭐⭐ (@Crew96History) July 6, 2020 Happy Anniversary. Thanks Coach Andrulis for bringing us our first trophies and setting a standard that future managers have yet to match.
Because it's still August 5th in most of the USA, including Chicago where he grew up in the suburb of Downer's Grove. 8/4/2012 was a game in DC that almost nobody remembers because it was the death of Kirk Urso on 8/5/2012 that we all remember.
Thanks for posting that. Such good memories. Beautiful August day; hit a beer garden before the match. Great atmosphere in Nipple Stadium. Our fans in the stands in yellow really stand out. You can hear Crew fans chanting after Zardes’ first goal, and shouting Rooooooom on two of his saves. “This is OUR house” and “U S L !” chants. And a beat down of F*CKY! Sadly what a difference a year will make come this Saturday...
Columbus Crew club debuts on this day...2010 - Andres Mendoza#Crew96 pic.twitter.com/XJ0YEZc1z2— Columbus Crew History ⭐⭐ (@Crew96History) September 4, 2020 I just saw it pop up, but September 4th was the debut of Andres "Viva!" Mendoza.

It was our last meaningful game in Florida (and I want to say the entire southeast) until Orlando and Atlanta came into the league...and no, I'm not counting any preseason, etc. It seems like all we did in USOC was lose to Chicago or play in various cities in Ohio. I think their next game was supposed to be Wednesday. I'm surprised they didn't fly on the 10th, but I guess they had to wait one more day. Sunday 9th -- at Tampa Monday 10th -- Day in Tampa Tuesday -- Travel day. All hell breaks loose. Wednesday -- Game in Denver or KC. I can't remember which. Looking back on that schedule, it seems odd, but it definitely paid off as the bus ride was easier coming from Birmingham than from further west. (8.5 to 10 hours depending on driver breaks vs 12-24.) For some reason, I remember it being Birmingham, but it could have been Atlanta. Either way.
Three years ago today, at 10:51pm, Grant Wahl sent a tweet. It just may have changed a few opinions and, oh, the entire world.
What a coinkidink— not only is it the anniversary of the Wahl tweet, it’s also the day this happened: On this day in 2010, @williamhesmer scored.#Crew96 pic.twitter.com/TKi4dLuAex— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) October 16, 2020
I just want to point out, for the record and just for lolz, that Will Hesmer has more MLS goals than Danny O'Rourke. I miss those two.
Yeah, but only one of them had obsessive fans. (Insert wink face, roll eyes, whatever you want here.)
I hate Halloween. Not just because grown-ups decide to play dress-up, but because it’s the anniversary of the most notorious match in Crew history...
