some questions to ponder....... If you are an expansion team, which leagues would you join? What's the benefit of joining USL instead of TOA and vice versa? Which league have more stable teams? Which league have more revenue-controlled-stadiums? Which league is more likely to sign a developmental deal with MLS for player transfers? p.s. Vancouver and Portland paid $35 mil each to MLS in expansion fee. This money go directly to the owners of MLS teams. USL-1 expansion fee is $750,000. Not sure if this money go directly to the owners of USL teams. This is quite a gap. $35 mil vs. $0.75 mil.
Re: Name of the new league I say it should be called the National Soccer League (NSL). Short and simple.
Re: Name of the new league IMHO, it should not be "North American"... as Mexico has their own league. I'd stick with NSL or something similar. Of course, we'll probably see something like "Walmart Premiera Eredivisie Liga Serie B"
Re: Name of the new league American Soccer League. I think Syd may still have rights to National Soccer League, or at least rights to his logo.
Re: Name of the new league National Soccer League. It's not the 1st division, as a Premier League would imply. It's not a fully sanctioned league yet, so in my mind, NAPL is a bit pretentious. National Soccer League would make the most sense and roll off the tongue better. We'd have MLS, USL and NSL.
Re: Name of the new league PSL is seen in a negative light because of Personal Seat License. Not good IMO.
Re: Name of the new league Soccer League United Teams Touring Yearly (maybe that would be better for the splinter league of WPS)
Re: Name of the new league Interesting that I am most tempted to delete the sarcastic comments from my fellow moderators...
Re: Name of the new league Actually, it was already used. By USL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USL_Second_Division
Re: Name of the new league Eastern/Pacific/Interior/Canadian Federated American/International League.
