Anyone else on here get the Follow Your Team tickets for the finals in Portugal next year from uefa.com? A group of six of us bought them in the hope. Even if we don’t qualify we get our money back and if we do…. Yippppeeee, at least we can travel independently and won’t be fleeced by the Travel Agents package tours. I reckon tickets will be as scarce as the proverbial hen’s teeth if we make it as a lot of older lads whose travelling days are behind them are talking of bringing the missus and the kids for the holiday and dumping them in the Algarve while they go the games.

yes i did too.....i dont hold out much hope that my name will come out of the lottery for the irish tickets but I suppose you have to be in it to win it!

Either way if we qualify and I dont have a ticket I will be heading down there!! Might reconsier though depending if the English get based in the same city.

Lots of 'ifs' and 'buts' there though.

I put in for them too.

Apparently on the last day of them being offered on UEFA.com, there was a note saying that only England, Portugal and Germany fans had applied for more tickets than their allocation, thus ensuring a lottery for those countries.

I'd have thought Ireland would have been the same, but we weren't mentioned on the website.

I applied for 4 set's of FMT tickets when they were first released. I would be very surprised if the Irish allocation didn't go to lottery, as the Irish fans had to go to lottery for Japan & the Irish were in the top 3/4 of countries for applications, this being in Portugal makes it even more tasty for the fans.

So firstly lets hope we do qualify & then get the allocations, it will be some craic down there, especially if the Scot's & Welsh make it.

That notice was on there for at least a few weeks before the Monday deadline, however, it never changed after that so I doubt it was ever updated. I can't believe that them 3 nations were the only ones to over subscribe when you consider the close proximity to a number of top nations (Spain, France etcc..) Im fairly sure the Irish tickets will be over subscribed and thus go to a lottery.

I put in 3 applications for 4 tickets each, so hopefully at least one application will be successful and we get there of course!!!

    For those interested,

Ireland, ticket applications will go to a ballot.

    taken from www.uefa.com

The general ticket sales for UEFA EURO 2004™ has been a resounding success with over a half a million tickets requested by the general public.

    Internet interest
The deadline for applications closed on Monday 16 June 2003 after a seven-week period, and interest was so great that a number of matches have sold out. During the general sales period, Euro 2004, S.A. received approximately 74,000 internet applications and over 10,000 paper application forms.

    Portugal popularity
The massive interest in the event in Portugal is illustrated by the fact that approximately 40 per cent of the applications received are from within Portugal. The 'Follow my Team' requests have also proved very popular worldwide. Those teams that have been oversubscribed are Portugal, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Republic of Ireland and Wales.

    Lottery decides
The lottery to identify the successful applicants where matches, or categories at certain matches, are oversubscribed will be held in July and everyone who has applied for tickets will be notified by 31 July whether they have been successful. Details of matches that are oversubscribed and matches where tickets are still available for sale will be announced towards the end of July.

    Sales restart
Sales will then re-open at the beginning of August 2003 with these tickets allocated on a first come, first served basis. Euro 2004, S.A. has thanked all those who have expressed such a positive interest in the event by making an application and look forward to revealing further details about the ticket sales in the coming months.

Cant' feckin believe it, I had notification today that all three applications were unsuccessful.....

I know this will sound like bitter grapes, but I can't believe that no % of tickets will go direct to the football associations so that they can distribute them to supporters clubs in an equitable manner.

A fan who has been to every qualifier, home and away could end up with no tickets for the finals and a chancer who fancys 2 weeks in the Agarve could end up with tickets to all of his teams games.

This is too much to take i'm off for a pint.....

    Tickets

i Know how you feel. i had two applications in and friends had another 4. None of us got any. I'd love to know how many were available. It's going to be a nightmare now if you want to travel independently.

does this mean that the only way to buy tickets was using uefa website application form?

Think so, The Dublin Branch of the ROISSC of which Im a member informed me to apply direct from UEFA as they would not be getting an allocation, should we qualify.

Unsold tickets will be going on sale from UEFA.com from 1/8/03. These tickets are sold by venue/match and as we don't know whether we will qualify or what venue we will be playing at should we qualify, there would is a fair bit of quess work involved, a chance you may or may not be willing to take.

    Guys,

Thats nine applications (going by the emails below) that have been rejected. Add my three that were also rejected on Saturday and that leaves a grand total "12 Big Soccer" known Irish declines!!

Not good. (ps I will still go without a ticket though)

According to Yahoo the high in London was only about 81 degrees today: http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/UKXX0085.html

In Lisbon today it was it's only about 76: http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/POXX0016.html

Come on, thats warm but not that hot. I played a pick up game the week before last for an hour when it was 95 here in Connecticut. Mind you I was knackered after about 5 minutes!

It is bloody hot in London today and supposed to be hotter tomorrow.

FWIW I didn't get the Follow My Team tickets for England I had applied for, and none of my mates did either.

I applied for tickets and got turned down too.

Why won't it surprise me if corporate Ireland gets them all?

PS Its 30 degrees in London today which is 86 I think in farenheit. And its VERY hot! If we qualify and its anything like this next summer, there'll be a lot of lobster-esque Irishmen in Lisbon!

    Pssshaaw!
86 degrees is a spring day in these parts.

You don't start to complain around here until the low temp at night is 80-85 degress, which means during the day it goes over 100.... usually coupled with 80-90% humidity.

The average daily high in Lisbon in July is in the upper 70's..... I'll have to remember to bring a jacket :)

you're right. You guys in London getting all worked up over mid-80's. I was talking to a colleague of mine earlier today who works in our Tempe, AZ office who said it was going to be 115 degrees today, which is 46 degrees celcius for you folks in Ireland and England. Now thats hot.
His comment was "Oh yes, it's a little balmy here!"

I think you're missing the point lads!

This is London, not Texas or Arizona!!

When it gets into the low 30s here, we REALLY feel it!

Some of my Eng-ger-land mates also applied and none of the seven applications were successful......
the spin over here is that basically if you did not apply as a family or with your bird you had no chance......us real fans never had a chance.

On the heat issue our head boss if allowing no suits/ties etc for the men and more casual clothes for the women until the heat dies down.....a drastic measure if you knew the type of company it is...

I know of one application out of about 15 (I know personally) that hasn't heard anything (so presumably was successful) between this board and foot.ie everyone else has been unsuccessful.

That must be a 99% unsuccesful rate, I just don't get it, I wonder how many Ireland FYT tickets were applied for?

sounds a bit suspicious to me, either the whole thing is a sham or someone ordered a whole load of tickets using different addresses/credit card numbers. How many tickets were allowed per credit card number?
