Following today's results the race really is on. So I'm just wondering who you are backing United, Arsenal or Newcastle. Personally I think it will be United as they will be so desperate to gain revenge for last year at old trafford and will win at Highbury. They showed their big game temperament today and following Arsenal's draw can still win the title even if they draw at St James'.

i think arsenal will do it...it's still in their own hands and should they avoid defeat against man utd at home, i think they'll cruise home.

besides, newcastle and man utd both still have to play everton :p

If Arsenal show the same skills at Highbury that they did when they punted ManU out of the FA cup race, they'll take the title and it'll be a back-to-back double.

If they choke, they won't likely recover.

If the match is a draw, I could easily see Newcastle screaming out of nowhere and snatching the title, especially if they win big over ManU.

My money is on Arsenal beating ManU, of course. :D

...or the kicking Thomas Graveson depending which tabloid paper you decide to believe.

It's almost a pity we beat Newcastle. Another year of end of season mind games and whining from Fergie and Wenger I suppose. Newcastle could have brightened things up a bit.

The UEFA cup chase is hotting up. We still have to play Liverpool, Chelsea (in the space of 48 hours) and Man U so alot can change.

I think i said this in another posting, but i'll say it again.

Manure won the league after the 98 world cup, (98-99 season), they went on a winning spree in that 99 part of the season, like they are now in the premiership, and the last team to beat them was a M'borro side...just like in 98-99. Coincidence....deja vu...that cruel Soccer God F***in with me?????
    who knows....

Anyways...Newcastle won't win the championship (sorry...but i think even the TOOn army know that)...and if Arsenal keep losing points like they did at Blackburn and Villa (and NOW is certainly not the time to lose points)...then Manure has got the title...I'll go cry now...

All done now, Arsenal have bottled it. it must be said that United have been superb since the turn of the year and fully deserved it.

I have to say I am in shock that we have really won... but what the heck I'll take it.

I did not get a chance to see the Arsenal vs. Leeds game I just heard the result.

Will the game be re-aired on FSW at any point this week? I would imagine it would but does anybody know when?

Arsenal 2002-3 = Most overrated team in Prem. history. This team could not play defense.

yes. Arsenal dropping 13 point lead (now an 8 point deficit), and Manchester grabbing 42 of 48 points meant nothing.

It was all thanks to Leeds :p

It was nice seeing Leeds survive though. Although the game was not anything to write home about, it did have it's moments.

It's been great seeing Vidouka regain some of his form as well.

Too bad Everton wasnt able to grab those 3 points this weekend. It would have made next weeks match at least a little interesting.

Yes, there were a few great goals - and i can't say i'm unhappy with the final score :)

But I expected Arsenal to show a little more fight - i just didnt see that. They didnt seem to have an urgency to their game - before Vidouka's killing blow, Arsenal seemed about to settle for a tie - something they couldnt afford if they truly desired the League title.

The Leeds recovery under Reidy is great to see, but It's more of a relief than a shock to see them playing better.

I still view Leeds as being in the same league as Liverpool, Chelsea And the Toons - always jockeying for position in the upper half -

but when they cut O'Leary loose - they started the slide in form. They lost a few players, let the new managers made bad choices, let their chairman make even worse financial decisions and bam - they struggle on field.

now that they have a returning belief in their game, i cant say I was too surprised by the result at Highbury.

If Leeds had lost, and been relegated, I dont think they could have recovered. The debt load would be too much for a 1st division team - as they would have to unload ALL their key players for paltry sums - not giving a quick retun to EPL llikely and administration much more likely.

So, they had a lot to fight for.

If they do not sign Reid to a contract, then i cannot see that recovery continuing. Although I couldnt imagine another relegation battle for them next year, they would not be well placed.

This season, Arsenal pretty much shot themselves (but we made it so the gap was too big for them to catch up)

In 99 we DID give Man U the title though. (the year Man U won by a point)
2'nd to last game of the season.... Leeds 1-0 Arsenal Hasselbaink in the 86'th min....

The last real goal that jimmy scored :)

I remember when Leeds tried to block Jimmy from moving to Chelsea - they were insisting that he join a team in Europe instead. I wonder where Jimmy will be playing in september?

I can see Leeds having to cut again during the off-season. Will they be having another firesale? I'm convinced that they will have to drop at least 1 more big name.

Eh, that was certainly helpful, but even if Hasselbaink hadn't scored and the game ended in a draw, United would have won the title on goals scored anyway. Looking back, had that goal not been scored, the teams would both have had a goal difference of 23, but United scored 80 goals to Arsenal's 59.

I suppose that one could make the argument that Arsenal would have gone out on the final Sunday with more to play for, as long as their destiny was in their own hands, and looking to score, score, score.

But I'm content with the fact that it wouldn't have happened...

You obviously missed his hattrick against totscum last season then lad.
    One of the best ever.

With his lack of form this season, very high wages, depressed transfer market and Ranieri unwilling to release him i doubt very much he will be going anywhere--unless of course silly money is fronted for him.

Problem with all this is of course that somebody will have to offer significant dosh to take anyone.
The rumours were rife that Arsenal were going to have their way with either Terry or Gallas-some said both-but now their financial situation is saying otherwise.

If things keep on the way they are Manchester United will do to the English game what Real madrid are doing to the Spanish game.

well, with an 8 out of 11 record, i'd say that has already happened.

BTW - Madrid just got thumped 5-1 at home by Mallorca. The team has alot of gifted players, but they do tend to be a too fancy to win sometimes.
They are 1 point ahead of Sociedad at the moment in their race - and I'm rooting for Sociedad.

Most leagues are dominated by 1 or 2 teams. EPL is no exception. the SPL takes alot of deserved flack for their 2 horse race, but it's almost been a 1 horse race in the Prem. since it's inception.

It will stay that way until:

the Newcastle board take a calculated risk and spend the dosh to purchase a few quality players. They have a huge fan-base, a huge stadium, quality players... but are just missing that one player to push them over the edge from alsorans to contenders. They are almost there - if they dont screw things up.

Liverpool has to dump Houllier, Keskey and Diouf, let Baros have a regular start, allow Murphy to have a more free ranging role. Riise also needs a good swift kick in the arse. What a howler of a year he's had.

Arsenal need to solve their defence. Although Adams was difficult to replace, they need to move on. They also need to build that freakin stadium ASAP and make a little more money at the gate so they can Pick up a future replacement for Bergcamp and Seaman.

Chelsea - who knows. they continually mystify me as to why they are so inconsistent. It's moved from being a joke into a way of life.

forget spain. the danger is that united's dominance has created another scotland.it is amazing that they have won 8 of 11 and twice finished second by a point, once finishing 3rd. many of these other teams are trying, spending money but they just don't have "it," whatever "it" is.

As a Man U fan (and nto a bandwagoner) I am riding this proverbial wave and loving it, but I can see why others don't. Once Keane and Ferguson go, there'll be troubles foer Man U, though - still I have faith in them solving that prob, even if most of their teen players look HOPELESS compared to Evertons, Arsenals or even Tottenhams
