In the Post article about the Dallas game: "And forward-midfielder Santino Quaranta, who made his season debut in an exhibition last week, is experiencing pain in the area where he had adductor surgery and is out again." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A10179-2004Jul23.html WHY...WHY...WHY??? -- N
He just can't catch a break with the injuries. Neither can Thiago, or Ben, or Earnie, or Eliseo, or Ryan, or . . . . well, you know where this is going.
So Nelsen is still out?!!! Hey, I think I need to catch a plane to Dallas and throw on a jersey. I'm in pretty decent shape. Would you guys be for the team paying for my plane ticket out of their budget? lol
I bet they'll have a field jersey with Rimando printed on it for the game. He'll play forward (he fits our profile) then he'll do a Preki cutback (he always studied them so hard that they completely mezmerized him into staring blankly at the following shot as it trickled into our net) and score the gamewinner. We can all spend next week arguing about him. Half of the board will say he should be our new starting striker while the other half will say he's still ****. Cherno
All of these injuries really make you wonder if the sh!t training facilities DC United has to deal with are finally taking a toll. Looks like it's time for Payne, et al, to get off their fat businessman asses and get the team a real SSS with proper facilities. Oh, you're waiting for the DC government? Then let's change the name to the DC Cripples. This situation is bullsh!t.
"Born under a Bad Sign" by Willie Dixon. DC United should hire a charter jet for a quick tour of France. More specifically, they should go directly to Lourdes.
I wish they could describe Tino's injury better then "it hurts". It just makes it sound like he lacks the testicular fortitude to get out there.
If your groin hurt to high hell, considering it was once torn from the bone..I think "it hurts" would be enough..
if come to the conclusion that once a player is injured in the preseason he doesnt appear for the rest of the season
...yeah, enough for the team to finally be sick of you not playing and cut your ass loose from the team... Has anyone considered that the kid should just retire? Isn't this the third or fourth time he's tried to come back from this injury, or a similar abdominal injury? Sounds pretty chronic to me...
You gotta remember where this injury is. Basically, the muscle on top and around your pubic rips and has a hole in it. That's what a sports hernia is. To prevent recurrances of the injury, plays often have the adductor surgery where the muscule tissue that links your abdominal muscles with the ones on your thigh and hamstrings are cut so that the motion of kicking and running doesn't put strain on the pubic tissue and causes more tear. Suffice to say, that part of the body is pretty damn sensistive and having this surgery, while not complicated, is very painful. Not because of how deep the cuts are, but because of what is cut. I don't think there's a guy on this board that isn't wincing at the thought of having this procedure and living with the pain of recovery from it. There's a lot to criticize Tino for, like not staying in good enough cardio shape during his rehab, being petualnt and immature and tuning out coaching at times and, of course, getting his girlfriend knocked up before he had his GED, but I'm gonna cut him some slack if he's still being sidelined by the pain from this procedure.
The infection Tino got on top of the surgery didn't help either. His body has been really battling to heal, I really feel for the guy. K
Wow, you've just made things all too clear to me. I'm sure my coworkers are wondering why I'm wincing right now. Good luck, Tino, I'm anxious to see you on the field again.
