Like a week ago people here were saying Weah isn't good enough for the USMNT Tim Weah vs Real Madrid.[🎥: @Jucomps2] pic.twitter.com/UGlJ1PTiKl— USMNT Otaku 🇺🇸 (@USMNTOtaku) September 18, 2025
Were people saying he shouldn’t be in the squad, or that he shouldn’t be starting? Because I’m pretty sure it’s the latter. And if we go to 3 ATB, then yeah, Weah isn’t going to start over Dest.
Well Weah started vs Real Madrid at the Bernabeu... too bad Poch couldn't get such a performance out of Weah vs mighty South Korea a few miles from Weah's birthplace.
Weah is a better fullback and a better wingback than Dest. There's a reason why one stays at UCL clubs in the Top-5 and gets offers from EPL clubs while the other is in the Eredivisie.
That's not a fair way to evaluate them. They have different skillsets and play the position differently. They're both very good players, and both have played their careers at high quality clubs. I'm certain that there are a lot of UCL clubs in the Top 5 leagues that are interested in Dest, given that he's playing really well for the best team in the 6th league.
He had two really good shots. The one he hit low and hard I thought the keeper was extremely lucky to stop. Those that low score most of the time. The keeper got part of some fingers on it and it should have gone through but didn't. I thought Weah was fine and the US a bit unlucky not to score but soccer goes that way. What SK didn't do was isolate a new CB against our best player in space.
They're both attacking wingbacks/fullbacks when playing the position. It's not like one is TAA and the other Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Dest has already had a go at Serie A and La Liga. We'll see if he gets another run in the Top-5.
Do you really, honestly, think that--barring catastrophic injury--Dest won't get another shot at a Top-5 club? Weah and Dest are both very good players for the USMNT. Weah had a crappy game against SK (as did the whole team until Weah and others were subbed off and we changed formation).
What can you do? 2006 WC in Germany had tickets sold in a lottery system at very reasonable prices. Tickets were personalized and required id to prevent scalping. Hotels were discouraged from jacking up prices for the World Cup. Those days are over.
I'm in California, I was planning attending one of the two games at the Sofi stadium. Decided to pass when the nosebleed seats are going close to $700. My sensible mind tells me not to do it.
I think there's a chance that some of the prices drop closer to game time. Maybe not the US tickets, but I can't see the other matches hanging up this high. In general, though, the secondary market right now is going to be artificially high because the scalpers know they have time.
“This isn't the Grammys. You don't get to go up there and lecture the public on some political bullsh*t.” 😳USMNT legend Eric Wynalda sides with Mauricio Pochettino and blasts Tim Weah for speaking up about the ticket prices in 2026 World Cup games. “Pochettino, he doesn’t… pic.twitter.com/27zYVmF32Q— GOLZ (@golz_tv) February 11, 2026 Eric Wynalda is always the loudest wrongest.
Once Eric Wynalda dives in, both sides agree that the whole thing has just become insufferable. What Weah said was innocuous. Pochettino's response was innocuous. The debaters on both sides have said more than the actual participants. Weah's comments about the tickets were much less pointed than his comments about former players blathering on in podcasts. While the rest of us have forgotten this kerfuffle, Wynalda seems exactly like the kind of guy who wouldn't. Tim Weah: 'Don't regret' calling USMNT critics 'evil' - ESPN "I think those guys are chasing checks, and for me I just feel like they're really evil," Weah said in an episode released last month. "They've been players, and they know what it's like when you're getting bashed. Those are the same guys that'll turn around and shake your hand and try to be friendly with you at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, I respect all of them. They were players I looked up to. "But quite frankly, the guys before us didn't win anything either. ... Christian himself has had a better career than every single one of the guys that speak negative on us."
