Yeah...its a good thing when you win games like this...a rough slog of a match where there is no fluidity through midfield.
Saha down. He has had a pretty decent game. He would be a star on the US national team...he's exactly the type of dangerous holding forward that would work well with the US midfield.
Louis Saha would be a star for any national team in the world... he stars for France when he's in form.
Less than a minute from the end of stoppage, Wigan hits woodwork from beyond the box... Yeowch. 1-0 Everton full time.
Well done, Everton. I'm very happy they got through that game uninjured...especially Landon. With that ref and some of those tackles....sheesh.
it is replayed on FSC later - 7PM EST I believe. Donovan did well - worked hard - Wigan is fast and physical .. but they got the 3 points. Not his best game - but he did not disappear and played solid defense as well as attacked ....
As much as I am displeased about the decision to take off Donovan, this is the type of result that only really hot teams get. This is the type of result that Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal get to infuriate other supporters.
Since most of the discussion(I presume) would be about LD, I just want to share that this is Timmay's 2nd straight clean sheet!
Exactly. This ugly win on most days is a scoreless draw. Good on Everton for grabbing the full three. Though Wigan almost got lucky at the very end. That was a great shot from distance by N'Zogbia denied by the bar.
And eight games unbeaten in Premiership matches. Not too bad, indeed. Photo from The Guardian's match report: Wigan's Maynor Figueroa makes a tackle at full stretch on Everton's Landon Donovan in the match at the DW Stadium. Photograph: Carl Recine/Action Images
