Weah did nothing this game. Until he did. I hope his earlier lack of chemistry with McKennie was a one off.
Tough to lose those 2 points by a toe preventing offside after playing so well. Very chippy second half with a total of 9 yellows and a red in the match. Some threat of handbags here at the end.
Good result being a man down that long. Great team ball and individual skill by both Americans on the goal.
McKennie started, Weah bench while people here were watching other things in Italy. Nico Gonzalez with a breakthrough goal for 1-0 in the 61st minute and Juve move back into the Champions League spots in the live table, just after Roma had jumped them.
Weah on in the 73rd minute - Weah and Vlahovic on for Kolo Muani and Cambiaso. Tim lining up at left back.
McKennie down for a while after suffering a yellow card foul by Kristiansen. Still laboring, might be wise do go to Douglas Luiz or someone. Just took a shot on a nice cutback pass, well blocked out for a corner.
Yup, Douglas Luiz on for McKennie. Serious grimace on Wes's face as he comes off. Hope that's not the end of his season, but it might be. Going straight to the locker room.
Yildiz attracts the whole defense, allowing him to feed an open Vlahovic in the box, and Vlahovic converts, placing it far post. 2-0 Juve and this is over. Juve to go into the final week in fourth with a one point cushion.
Matchday 38 Sunday, 25 May: Venezia v Juve (Sorry Busio but Juve need the 3 points) Torino v Roma Lazio v Lecce Juve solidifies top 4 with a win.
Hope Wes is alright. Tudor should have took him off when he first went down and needed treatment. He really doesn't trust Douglas Luiz, IMO. I didn't think Weah had much of an impact once he came on for Cambiaso. I believe Wes being played all over the place this season didn't help him in the double pivot role, I thought he wasn't particularly effective. I will give him the benefit of the doubt because of his rotating role in the team and lack of positional continuity. I hope that can get worked out for next season. I'm not a fan of Wes in a double pivot, his attributes are best utilized in a 3-man midfield and hope he is put in the best position to succeed whether.
Technically, you're right. However, that can't be an option, win will be the only acceptable result. Champions League has to be achieved after spending almost 200m between the summer and winter. If options are taken on some players, it will be over 266m.
Huge game today. Juve v Venice, Roma v Torino. Juve needs to win if Roma beat Torino to keep CL/4th. If Roma draw, it will be impossible for them to move above Juventus, even if the Juve lose. They will be level on points, head-to-head and goal difference in head-to-head matches, but Juventus comes out on top on GD.
Lazio can still get in with certain outcomes which I wouldn't dare speak into accidental existence. Just win, I don't particularly care how. Get the 3 points and figure out what happens over the summer with whoever the manager will be.
Yildiz earning some of his early praise this season. I thought he'd have a better year - not that it's been bad, but when he hit stride earlier he looked like he was going to run rampant.
