hi iam new and i am a manchester united fan i live in the uk and i looks like Tim Howard will be at united next season i was just wonderin how u think he will fare
Welcome to Big Soccer. Many think that Tim is ahead of where Brad Friedel was at the same age as far as development. He is very talented and could be that good but it's really hard to guess at this point. I expect him to do very well there. I hope he gets some first team time this year but I suspect he may be loaned at first though he may just have the starting role with his abilities this year if given the chance. It's really hard to guess at this point and even Americans can underestimate the talent of our goalkeepers sometimes. He is very spectacular at times. We have several other keepers I think could do well there also. There are some video clips of him around here somewhere.
his weak part (i think) was his distribution, he's getting better at that now. His reflexes are second to none.
Here's a Big Soccer thread with some video clips in it. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51612&highlight=howard+video
I'm a fan of Howard's present team the Metros and I must say you guys are getting a great talent. He has a ferocious competitiveness and a ton of heart. Don't expect him to back down from any fights either. He's also an excellent shot stopper with great reflexives and is incredibly athletic. I'm gonna miss him here in New Jersey because he was really entertaining to watch. I really think he's gonna succeed at ManU. Maybe not immediately but in the near future I think he will become your #1 keeper.
Howard is a great talent. Still developing of course. I think it really hinges on him winning the starting role. He is far too young to sit on the bench and I think too much bench time, even with his talent, could squash his career. I think it is somewhat irrelevant to compare and contrast the development of Tim, Kasey, and Brad. They are all very different in Keeper style, not to mention both Brad and Kasey had no domestic pro league to develop in. If you are looking for a new Friedel.....look to New England. Call me crazy, buut remembber I said it, Aiden Brown is Brad Friedel. Big man, incredible reflex stops and great in the air. If he only had a better defense his stats would be incredible. Another up and comer, Nick Romando. (I apologize for all the poorly spelt names)
Oh the pressure!!! Being a Metrostars and Howard fan I am hopeful and cautiously optomistic about Howards future with ManU. He has the talent and the attitude, at the moment, to acheive great success. My concern is this: with all his fans and supporters boasting about what a great talent he is and how he is going to do "great" over in England; are we setting ourselves up for a backlash from borderline skeptics if he doesn't provide a stellar showing next season (assuming he plays)? We are perhaps JUST starting to gain some respect and credibility with our top players around the world and I think it would be better, more prudent even, to maintain some composure and a reserved stance when it comes to our individual hopes for success. We are all excited about the future of soccer in america and our players but let's keep it in perspective are remember that we (as a league and country) still have alot to prove on the world stage. That said....go Howard and go MLS!!!
ha ha ha very funny but if u ever come to manchester u will see to city center is a sea of red Manchester united not the blue of Shity manchester city
has anyone thought about the possibility of that he might not get any playing time on the first team so Man U decides to loan him and he gets loaned to MLS? ala Donovan? and then he gets sent to the Rapids as an allocation!
That may be the same mistake they made at Liverpool with Friedel. It would come back to haunt you when they vote Tim Howard the best keeper in the Premiership someday. Paul Robinson will never reach the quality that Tim Howard will. Mark my words. Etch it in stone. Trust me. It ain't over 'til it's over, we take em one game at a time.
