Tim Howard, keeper for the Metro Stars was on CNBC a few minutes ago discussing how pro atheletes invest their money. Also mentioned how he hopes to be on the World Cup team in 2006. Great job Tim!!!

He has money to invest? Only a small percentage of MLS players can say that.

Supposedly Howard just got a nice new sweet deal, didn't he?

Yup, he's supposed to be the highest paid keeper in the league, with speculation setting his salary in the 200k per year range.

I remember reading it was closer to the max that in it is to a 200 k.

Read that too. I wanted to put together a "best guess" salary list, but I figure by the time I get it done, the union will have released all the information anyway.

Surely, Howard makes some $$ on sponsorship deals. Right?

It was reported that Howard makes the max salary at around the $275,000 range, certainly more than enough to be thinking about his future, especially seeing that his playing days will over much sooner than the typical worker.

The reporter mentioned that only Meola has seen that type of money from MLS as a keeper.

Campos probably made good cash back in 96, but the max back then was in the high 190's. Like Lalas and Donadoni, I am sure Campos made a TON outside of his regular contract though.
