I heard about this when the team started up but never got a good explanation. In this interview (start at 11:59), Drew Carey explains how the process works and why it's important (also includes thoughts by Daryl Morey and the Astros GM). I personally think the front office has done a great job over the years but I know there's a vocal minority that disagrees with me. How do y'all think this would work for the Dynamo?
Too many people make emotional decisions or knee jerk reactions to short term problems and fail to see the larger long term big picture. Very few people (if any) could have predicted the Dynamo would be scoring goals and running a 4-3-3 at the beginning of the season. The fans should stay fans and stay out of the board room...
Geeze-it wouldn't work. Look what mobs do-they convict Duke Lacrosse players before evidence comes out, they label presidential candidates based on random accusations, etc. If we did that here-Luck would have been canned because he couldn't get the stadium deal done fast enough for people. There is a reason why we have an electoral college to this day. Our forefathers knew way back then, that we would still have that same mentality now 200 years later. Wanna vote? Vote with your $. That is always heard and always works-it's capitalism and free market enterprise at it's best.
Makes the assumption that the fans in general understand the general workings of a football club. I'd say that close to 80-90% don't. Bad idea.
Seriously! If you're going to give that kind of power to any fanbase, why to the least intelligent of the bunch?!
Come on, dude, they're Duke lacrosse players. They may not have raped THOSE chicks, but they're certainly rapists.
notsureifmeanttoputrealjpegorifthisisjustajokeinitself.jpg HEY! LOOK! MOD SIGHTING!!!! Everybody should gather around and take pictures of it before we scare it away!
I don't trust fans to run the team. I think the only team in American sports that could do it would be the Green bay Packers. The fans own the team legit. And, yeah, the MIT Sloan Sports conference contains great stuff. I wonder when soccer will take off with the analytically stuff.
Funny you should mention that, The Shin Guardian did an excellent article on this today with tons of links.
