Hey, I have been going to games now almost non-stop save for a couple of weeks since July 2005. The whole season 2005/2006, the World Cup in germany and straight into the pre-season in Austria. I need to forget about tickets/travel to games/Arsenal etc etc for a while so I am off. After the Pompey away game on the 13th May you won't see me around here until the 13th July where some of you will see me in New York. HighburyGoon (Mike), muharadom (Dom), n1400 (Nick) and GunnerPhan (Ryan) will be meeting up with me in New York, if anyone wants to come for a few drinks then please get in touch with them and they will tell you the arrangements. I won't be answering any PM's after the Pompey game so I assume my inbox will get full pretty quickly and will stay that way. If you need anything to do with Arsenal America please PM or contact the following people: Membership - BigHorn or Prysbilinski Questions about Roadtrips - idiparker Anything else related - HighburyGoon I will be contacting the people who have offered suggestions on the new Ticket process seperately and we will be continuing to try and get a better process by e-mail. If this is up and running before I go to Africa then you will know. If not then one of the mods will start a thread with ticket requests and it will simply be first come first serve. bear in mind two things: a) I have had at least 6 or 7 groups ask for refunds and not go as the dates of games have changed for TV reasons. Now whilst this is not completely your fault, you should all be aware that games can be played any time from 12.45pm on Sat to 8pm on Monday. For the big games they are certain not to be played at 3pm on Sat. It is your responsibility to check this. b) I have had several people who at the beginningof the season asked for tickets to the big 4 games. 4 groups I think. Not one of those groups went to all 4 games. Now whilst yes, I was given notice that people couldn't go - this has meant that other people have missed out because you have blacked out a pair of tickets that you were not certain to use. That's not fair. From next season I will only accept requests from people for one of the big 4 teams. If you want to go to more of the big 4 games you have to join the wait list. Simple as that. I have ended up with having to get rid of 8 Chelsea tickets that many people if given enough time would have booked specifically for. But they were blacked out by people who haven't come back to me, haven't answered PM's from others going and many other reasons. Considering it's one of the biggest games and I only get a few tickets, I'm not too impressed to be fair. especially as some of those people are people who I know............................... I will go through ticket requests on my return from New York. DO NOT CHASE ME WITH PM'S as this will only slow me down. If there is anything anyone needs from me or was thinking of asking me, I suggest they do it before May 10th as otherwise it won't be answered for a couple of months. You may see me posting once or twice in other forums, but I won't be posting on here. (Hopefully the draft thread will be finished!!) Have a great summer. Rick
Its all about you, you, and you! Two threads for YOU! A little high on yourself aren't you? PS: Still no job, so its looking like I made the right decision, though I know where I'd rather be.
So, Rick, assuming that the fixture list will be released in late June, to whom should we direct ticket requests? I know when i want to come (the opponents, home/away are immaterial), so i'd like to get the request in and book the trip early. Thanks. Self edit: Never mind. reread your post. I'll pm you with my request, then leave you be until your return. Enjoy your break.....
Although sadly I was not able to take advantage of the wonderful ticket service this year, thanks for everything Rick!!
I was one of the 5 guys who ran into you outside the tube station. Even though we were fortunate enough to get tickets elsewhere, I could tell the effort you put in that day trying to find people and then meeting with all of the people at the Tavern. I hope everyone you've helped really appreciates what you do for them, and I was glad to get the chance to meet you.
Rick thanks again for everything you did this past fall. I appreciate it a lot and I'll see you again on the 13th July. Hope you have a good break.
I had some thoughts about it before, but now after this notice it has become quite apparent... Arsene has selected Rick for the position of Director of Football at Arsenal Football Club!
To Fgarrison and Rick, perhaps I am reading Rick's initial post incorrectly, but I get the impression that if a new system is not set up pre-Rick's departure, we're just supposed to post on the thread (started by a mod) first come first serve. No PM, just first post on the thread. Right? Or nyet?
See, I thought you were to post on the thread only AFTER getting a confirmation from Rick. The way I read it was, for regular (non-exhibition) fixtures next season, pm Rick per the policy and then he will go through them upon his return.
but that would be the totally normal method--right?--so you would not post on the thread until Rick's return--so why would you need a non-Rick mod ticket thread? what would be the point of Rick mentioning anything other than he will not be able to respond to PM's? plus, as he pointed out, his mailbox will fill up so folks won't be able to leave requests at all until Rick empties some out. Maybe you're right though. I'm not sure. Rick? (and sorry if I've created confusion.)
George you are correct - I want no PM's, it will simply be on a first come first serve on the ticket thread to be started by a mod.
Sounds good. I'll put in my request upon announcement of fixtures (both Premiership and Champions League).
I've never been to a match, and with my current financial situation, it likely will be many, many years before I get to. Unless I hit the lottery. But I thank you Rick for all you do. Hopefully, when I finally do get to see a match in person, you're still doing this and I can buy you a pint. Or 12. Enjoy your summer.
I know Rick won't be responding, but maybe other people can help me with this. I'm an Arsenal America member who's been a member since 2005, I think. As a Canadian, I was "grandfathered" in as a member when Arsenal Canada came into existence since I had already been a member. So, if I'm looking for Arseam tickets for next season and people that I'd be going with aren't members (yet) can I still sign them up as Arse Am members even though they're Canadian or am I s.o.l? Am I making sense? Any help would be appreciated.
Wow, that's an excellent question. I'm assuming all of these folks are Canadians as well? Let me find out for you...
How do I sign up for Arsenal America? I have messaged a few people and they have said a membership drive will start in June. Does anybody know when the drive will start so I can be a member of ArsenalAmerica? Thanks
