2 AVAILABLE, HOME FANS ONLY. OFFERS. FIRST DECENT OFFER WILL WIN IT AS I WILL NEED TO POST THEM NOW!!!!
If you are selling tickets as a fan to another fan, you should NEVER ask for anything over face value. That makes you no better than those touts that hang outside the grounds.
Tickets No better than....?? Its cost me tickets - credit card fees - postage - my time etc. Whenever i buy tickets from other people, I always give them a little more for their trouble. Simple as that.
SWM seeks fun-loving, unattached couple of tickets to share p.m. @ ARSE-CITY. CITY section tickets need not apply. Serious offers only. 555-2121. GTV a plus.
All i know is that whenever we have spares in Leeds, be the match against Fulham or Manchester United, we ALWAYS sell the tickets at face value or less. We never ask for or expect us to get more than the price on the ticket, even if we have paid the extra quid for the creditcard fee. It's just not the right thing to do.
Life in the real world means fans of the same team offering tickets to other fans of that team for face value, plus fees. Not "first decent offer." If all you intend to charge for is cost, fees, and shipping, then that's fair - but you ought to say so in the first place. And you should say where the tickets are, how much they originally cost, and how much you want for them. Otherwise, it's easy to mistake you for a tout.
Geez, Give the guy a break. If don't want the tickets fine, keep it to yourself. I can assure you someone will be grateful for the offer. Please post your quasi-political thoughts about ticket prices in the appropriate thread, lords know there are plenty of them.
I totally agree, if I was to sell some tickets to a stranger and thought I could get more than the original price sure I would, it's business!!
Scalping is legal here in the Lone Star State, so I'm used to it. I've got no problem with selling your tix for a few $$$ above what you paid, but I'm with some of the others in thinking you should just post what you want for them. Most of us in here are in the States, so we're not your target market, but the few folks we do have from England might be interested, but not enough to get involved in a bidding war. Good luck on your sale. I think we need a "Sticky" for ticket offerings (and views on scalping).
I look at this two different ways. I mean I understand how touts undermine things, but at the same time, there has always been some type of black market for something. If there are people willing to pay the price, then they will, as they may not know any Season Ticket Holders or anyone else able to get them tickets. Also, its not like every game goes on General Sale. I mean, hell, I've seen Leeds sell out, along with Middlesboro. I mean, I'm in a quandry myself for Euro2004. I've got 4 tickets (2 for ENG v FRA, 2 for GER v HOL) I'm no longer going to use as my plans for traveling this summer have changed. Now, do I put tickets up for sale on Ebay and get close to $1000 for them, or do I offer them to people for face value? What would you do, especially if you were heading back to school and might need the money?
Yes, scalping (is it me, or that term a little damn offensive?) is illegal in Texas, but it's funny you say that, for I know plenty of people who are shelling out $1500/per for Super Bowl tickets tomorrow night. (Although they circumvent the law by selling them as a "package" travel deal. It happens everywhere, and legality is merely a side-note.) It's absurd for me to think about investing so much money for one game when you don't have a vested interest in one of the teams. Is it just me (again), or does that cheapen the sport a little? Hell, I'd certainly pay 4 figures (if I have them) for a good seat at an Arsenal CL final (knock on wood, it'll happen sooner or later), a Boston Red Sox World Series game (God willing), or a Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl (oh yeah, you KNOW this will happen before too long), or a WC final w/ England, the US (you never know. . .), or maybe the Dutch or the French, but just to be at "the" game? I hear people in Houston (aka - the 3rd best city in Texas) are renting out their apartments/houses/whatever for abo. $3000 for the weekend. How ridiculous is that??!! Sorry to get a little more off-the-subject, but I feel it's fairly topical given the last few posts.
I actually said it was legal to scalp tickets in Texas, as long as you are not doing it on public property. That's why there is so many "Texas Tickets" type organizations who pay people to go stand in line for events and then inflate the prices.
Easy answer, face value, allways have allways will, infact when myself, or one of my mates can't go to a game, their ticket is usually given to one of the others, and passed on free of charge to other friends. As I've said before over the years I've had access to many tickets, including several cup finals, and have never sold one for more than face value, Touts are scum !!
I completely understand the anti-tout sentiment. But what would the advice be for someone who wants to fly to London to see the Liverpool match for instance? Don't go? Those tickets are hard to come by.
thinking of doing the same thing i am? if i can't get tickets i'm just going to t-birds to watch it. it's going to suck if i can't get tickets because they were going to be my birthday present from emily
No question about it, selling for face value is the right thing to do... I'll gladly buy them from you!
But on a more serious note than my last message (though I would definitely buy the Euro tix), if you are here in the UK, it is illegal to resell tickets unless you are adding some extra value (which is why you see all the "corporate" packages that offer lunch, etc. with the ticket. Also, it is common policy on all the UK Arsenal message boards (such as ArsenalWorld) or e-mail lists that if you have extras you can only advertise them if you are selling them at face value or lower. Since the person who originally posted the message is in Swindon, I suggest s/he think carefully about what they're doing. If the buyer is asked to pay more than face (plus transaction fees), then I'd report them to the club. Whoever bought the tickets originally will be blacklisted. Do not support touts! They make it harder for true fans to get tickets.
I understand all sentiments about Tout's e.t.c and whether you would charge more than fce value. The simple answer to that is that along with VaVaVoom, I would report anyone who tried to sell tickets at more than face value and have done in the past. I have posted on here a few times about ticket availability, the latest was today for the F.A.Cup game. Someone somewhere will always have a spare even for the premium games. So don't give up and go to a tout until you have exhausted the possibility's elsewhere. And if n4100 wants to sell his tickets at face value, I'll happily take all 4. But just to let him/her know, the F.A. have a big crackdown on tickets for England, it is very unlikely you would get away with it. The police do check the auction sites, their not stupid!!
