I'm getting excited for MLS soccer that counts in the Bay Area, then I keep hearing that saying: "Be careful what you wish for".

Quakes will hold their final Discovery player/SI spot to swoop in for a big name this summer.....

IMHO, it'd be better to use this SI/discovery spot carefully, and don't rush signing a player who might not be that good.

Yallop is pretty good about not using SI/Discovery picks just to "use them".

I said Discovery pick in-season. Yallop must have something up his sleeve, and as Alexi and LDB put it, he won't rush it.

Yeah, remember how he held on to the Quakes' second allocation at the beginning of the 2001 season? He waited a year and then got Barclay for it, even though he would have gotten Barclay anyway, regardless of whether the Quakes had an allocation. And then we wasted PT on Barclay for a whole season, just to let him go for a pick in 2005.

Ahhh...nothing like maximizing our opportunities to acquire talent. :D

hopefully he sticks with what he has and works on getting the best results from these players. Throwing someone else into the mix will only complicate things.
