Man I came here early because I wanted to guess todays badge before someone else did but I'm stumped. I had to look it up, so I won't spoil it. I thought I had seen this teams badge before so I was surprised to see who it was.
Minnesota United tells their employees to go file for unemployment and then get a job at Pepsi or Target. Classy. https://sports.yahoo.com/minnesota-united-mls-coronavirus-crisis-pepsi-unemployment-210450799.html
Hold up, are we talking about FO staff or those that work at the stadium? If it's the latter, then I can see why they did this. United plays what 17-18 home games a season? (not counting extra USOC or potential playoff games). Those stadium jobs are part time gigs to become with. Those shifts are at most 6 hrs, likely less. Let's not make this out to be like the Staples or Wells Fargo Centers who have events nearly ever day of the year. I understand that it's not a good look, but there also needs to be some context here.
And a Garber crony from NFL Europe has been named to replace Dan Flynn. http://www.insideworldfootball.com/2020/03/25/former-wasserman-exec-wilson-takes-ceo-us-soccer/
Probably being a Garber crony from MLS and SUM is more relevant that a couple of years overlap in NFL Europe 20+ years ago.
I understand your point, but I think you may be discounting the importance in many people's lives of part time work. And if it's really such an insignificant sum to everyone then surely Bill McGuire, who sits on billions of dollars - ill-gotten and otherwise - could certainly toss these loyal employees a few coins from his couch.
I'm not discounting that. Are these part time employees employed by Minnesota United, or are they employed by the management company that runs the concessions, security, etc. at the stadium? It's easy to take pot shots at the Billionaire owner of the sports team. How come no one is taking pot shots at management companies such as Sodexho, Aramark, Delaware North (Allianz Field), etc.who are the employers of these workers? Certainly there are Multi-Millionaires and Billionaires running those companies....
