The Wydad fans were great at the Man City-Wydad match in Philly. 1935442571029004652 is not a valid tweet id
Bring the sunblock, it's going to be 95 degrees tomorrow! It wasn't super hot yesterday, and I got a nice sunburn, even with limited time outside.
Please post about your experience after. I’m going to Salzburg - Real and the security horror stories I’ve seen from other well-attended matches have me wondering if I need to treat it like getting to an airport.
Getting into the stadium yesterday was easy. I would say get there early and head in 45-60 minutes prior to kick. The closer to kickoff, the longer the lines, and the more difficult it will be to get in. Also check and make sure that there aren't any other events going on down at the stadium complex that night (Phillies home game, concert at the Xfinity Center(?)). As that will impact parking and walking around down there. It's also supposed to be very hot next week as well, temps in the mid to high 90's.
The experience at Audi Field was good. The attendance was 18,000+. I arrived early and didn’t have any issues with security. There were a lot of FIFA stewards around helping. Both fan bases were represented with, obviously, a lot of Juve fans. There was a FIFA store with some game specific and tournament swag. One cool thing was that there was a Al Ain fan zone and they gave out gift bags with swag like free scarves. My biggest complaint was the silly assistance by FIFA to play club anthems after goals. thanks to Jaykoz for the info on the game in Philly!
One other thing, getting out of the parking lots after the game sucked yesterday. I boil that down to out of towners not knowing where they are going. I've been to Phillies games, 76ers games, Flyers games, etc down at the complex and it's various stadiums and not had nearly as much trouble getting out as I did yesterday. So keep that in mind. Also tomorrow being a Friday, traffic getting their shouldn't be bad because it's a 3PM game. Getting out the traffic will be terrible as it will be Friday evening rush hour traffic, plus it's the summer which means a whole lot of people will be driving to the New Jersey and Delaware Shores. Oh, and the Phillies are playing the Mets across the street at 7PM, so that may or may not impact which lots you can park in if you're driving to the game.
PayPal would make a great venue and facility for Bay FC. It's great for the Quakes too, however, moving downtown to a new building with new ownership energy and momentum giving them a new beginning.
Unless Google, or some other big name, deep pocketed , hi-tech or conglomerate comes in and revitalizes it, downtown San Jose is a horrible place to put a stadium and it is even worse with traffic. They could demolish many structures but other than that, there is virtually no land anywhere. South Campus where Spartan Stadium is , used to be great place for soccer but they've ruined it.
The game was incredible, best atmosphere I've seen. I got there about two hours prior and the Flamengo fans were already there in full force. Getting into the stadium was a breeze ... parking was easy once we navigated around closed entrances. Definitely bring sun screen!
