&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp If the San Francisco Giants defeat the St. Louis Cardinals just one more time in the current MLB National League Championship Series, then they will face the Anaheim Angels in the "World Series".

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp If that matchup happens, then it will be the third time in the last decade that NoCal and SoCal met in the championship match of a major league, following Super Bowl XXIX and MLS Cup 2001. :D

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp And of course, the good guys won the two past meetings - can the Giants advance and make it three in a row in the intrastate championship rivalry?

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!! :)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Okay, so I had forgetten about how LA defeated SF in the XFL Bowl or whatever it was called. But then again, I did say "major league"... ;)

The XFL rocked. Don't put it down like that.

I still wear a black armband with my Demons jersey.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp They certainly had some nice looking cheerleaders.

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Mmm... cheerleaders! [IMG]

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Hopefully you're not referring to the players' toes.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Anyways, it's now official: there's no more "if" about a NoCal-SoCal MLB World Series.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Most likely only if one of them attends a game at Pacific Bell Park next week.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Well, the Giants begin the quest for their first (since moving to San Francisco) World Series win in three tries this coming Saturday... a day before the Earthquakes officially step down as reigning MLS Cup champions.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Look on the bright side, though - that star above the Quakes' jersey crest will never go away (and will most likely to be joined by more stars in the future)... and regardless of who wins this Sunday, no MLS team other than DC United will have more of those stars on their jerseys next season than the San Jose Earthquakes! :)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp So if 2001 was the year of the Earthquakes, and 2002 could very possibly be the year of the Giants, then to which Bay Area pro sports team will 2003 belong?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Well, today's the day (for Giants fans, that is)! :D

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp As for the next year going to the Sharks and the CyberRays, I suppose we can all hope (along with the Earthquakes, 49ers, Giants and Warriors - and the SJSU Spartans on the collegiate front).

They meant real sports, not fringe cult things like the C-Rays. Otherwise, we'd also have to include the SaberCats in these discussions.

What the hell are the CyberRays!??!?!
An AYSO championship dosn't count as a national championship.

I am so shocked at this forum!!! You call yourselves Quake fans??!!!

    What's wrong with you people?!

And Goodsie!! You?!! I'm disappointed!!! Do you even need to ask this question?

2003 will be the year that the Quakes reclaim the trophy (I just have the hardest time calling it a Cup - it's not a cup.)!

Live from Boston it's the Blue Meanie show...

I wouldn't call the Rays a fringe cult.

Maybe polo and golf, or arena football/indoor soccer...

They should redesign the trophy where you can pour a beverage and drink from it... I am planning to attend MLS Cup next year in LA... at least that can be done on a student budget...

    Cheers!

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Wow! A 16-4 drubbing of the visitors by the boys in black and orange!

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp With one more win, the San Francisco Giants will become the 2002 version of last year's San Jose Earthquakes. :D

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Thanks Albany. :)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Game 6 tonight - hopefully the Giants can follow the Earthquakes' lead in bringing the Bay Area some championship hardware in this young century.

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!!
