As should be expected when their is no one clear-cut dominant team, there is no consensus in this week's pools over who the No. 1 team is.

SoccerTimes puts Wake Forest at No. 1, Soccer America keeps St. John's there and the NSCAA has Indiana.

Granted, it's sort of irrelivant as the only time being No. 1 really matters is in the post-season and we have a tournament to decide that. But, it makes for good debate.

Here are the 3 polls. Sorry I can't put them side by side, I'm just not that technically sofisticated.

    SoccerTimes
    1 Wake Forest 9-0-3

I think this is undeniable proof that SoccerAmerica and NSCAA are all lying sacks of crap. Not that I'm biased or anything.

SoccerTimes has got it right. Wake is undefeated with the strongest schedule strength (Albyn Jones ratings). The Deacons should be #1.

Thanks for the lists, Sandon. Personally, I'm pleased that there's no consensus. After all, it's total guesswork to compare a Big East team, an ACC team, and a Big 10 team. If there was too much agreement, we'd know that some people weren't thinking for themselves.

    this is not college football

    1. rankings mean *&%*-all in college soccer.

    2. there is virtually no major media coverage so all these rankings are based on records and stats with little to no first hand experience watching a team play...or even seeing highlights for that matter.

    3. this game is not played on paper. why is it that so many more highly seeded teams get knocked out in the NCAA soccer tournament than in the basketball tournament...? (i think last year 3 of the top 4 seeded teams made it to the basketball final four while #4 and #7 advanced to the soccer final...at leat they were in the top ten) see comment 1.

  7. Unbiased.....I ahve so far watched St Johns (numerous times), Wake, Notre Dame, Seton Hall, Pitt. The best team I saw (the only that had my Johnnies on the ropes) was Wake. Wake possessed the ball a lot more then we did and played a much better looking game. I enjoyed watching them attack and their midfield play. But they played my school.....

Biased....we (St Johns) lost only our first game. We beat Indiana and tied a bunch of very good teams. Our defense is flat out amazing. Defense wins championships...

St Johns vs UConn....Fri nite 8pm, Belson Stadium.

One of the best rivalries in college soccer over the past 10 or so years.
