Jurgen Klopp will serve as assistant manager to Sir Kenny Dalglish when Liverpool Legends take on Borussia Dortmund Legends on Saturday, March 28. The match, which will be held at Anfield, is part of Liverpool’s Legends series and will raise funds for the LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity arm. Klopp currently serves as an honorary ambassador for the foundation, and his involvement shows his continued emotional and professional connection to Liverpool following his departure as first-team manager. Awesome. I believe our legends match tends to sell out each year anyway - but what a treat for fans - crazy it won't even be for a player in action!
Interesting times out Saudi way if you’re Darwin Nunez. Only 9 goals in 24 games and 6? assists. He has been replaced by 38yo Karim Benzema in the league squad. There are 8 foreigners allowed in the league squads and he’s done for the rest of the season with Benzema the new golden haired boy. He’ll probably see playing time as he is in the Asian CL squad, but rumors abound that his new port of call will be MLS as it’s the only transfer window open between now and the WC. His Uruguayan place is at risk due to his lack of playing time. Meaning he’ll make the WC squad but probably not the team. I’ve always liked Nunez, he seems like a very nice guy, but he just was not matched for elite level. I’m not sure he would have added anything to us this season that would have made our woes any less. I suppose he might have been marginally better than Salah or Gakpo, but I’m not sure. 9 in 24 and being dropped from the squad (in Saudi) doesn’t speak to a good or even middling season. Shame, because, as I say, he does seem like a decent guy.
This season I'd have been very happy to see Darwin used to sub for Cody in a lot of games. Cody always tries hard but he's just not been on it this year. Don't understand why don't we use him for crosses by Mo to the far post - he's scored some cracking headers for us but those crosses have dried up.
The title of this thread needs to be something like: leave Liverpool and watch your career implode. What Diaz is doing is a minor miracle because the record of everyone else who has left Liverpool is truly unbelievable. Even Harvey and Trent who left at a really good age have had nightmares.
Doesn't hurt for Diaz that hes playing in a league a level below the PL and isn't being asked to be the man - allowing him to play pressure free. No doubt he is doing very well - however!
I think Sadio left at the age of 30 - his legs started going which is why we were ok selling him for a cut rate. Diaz was 28 when we let him go - he still has gas in the tank.
True. But he was still a top top player when he left. His last game for Liverpool was the Champions League final, and he was a finalist for the Balon dor. It was a pretty dramatic decline after leaving just like so many others.
Interesting that we saw the decline in Mané early on but failed to spot the same in Salah. A little bit of negligence, I’d say.
Salah was pretty amazing last season. I don't think many expected the drop off we've seen in his game this season.
