"The Los Angeles Blues battled hosts River Plate Puerto Rico to a 1-1 tie Saturday night and have since returned home to Southern California. The result saw the USL PRO side finish their demanding trip to the Caribbean unbeaten and atop the International Division. With Sunday’s home opener against Antigua Barracuda FC fast approaching, the Blues expressed pride in their 3-0-1 start to the season as well as excitement over finally getting to play in front of their home fans at Fullerton’s Titan Stadium..." I'll bite....The Blues should have the players back who missed the first game against Atigua but will be minus the services of Romero. Add the long trip and new surroundings and I have the Blues taking the game 3-1.......
The would definitely be a good result. The loss of Cesar Rivera is definitely tough to swallow, but the likes of Colic, Chijindu, Gaitan and Sesay should be plenty potent to get a job done, no?
Add Tudela into the mix and we should be able to roll. You can say the team is deep with talent and experience.....
Agreed. And all the travel and back-to-back games almost become a blessing in disguise, as they will ensure that most players on the roster will see significant playing time. With such quality even beyond the starting 11, it would be a shame if all those great backup players never got to see the field.
I say 4-1 Blues. There's no way Barracuda doesn't come in overconfident after the smackdown they laid on PRU.
Hmm... the stream broke toward the end. It was barely holding on all game. Don't know what the problem was... I dunno what the net is like at CS-Fullerton.
tough loss for the blues......They had their chances for sure but Antigua was unlucky not to score more also....What happened with Gaitan?
Hey, I just noticed this forum. I wrote a few thoughts on last night's game on my oft-neglected blog: http://ralphs.tumblr.com/post/5133501260/la-blues-soccer-clubs-very-first-home-game There are some pictures in that link too. It was a good time and I look forward to the next game at Titan Stadium! PS: Are there any plans to serve beer that isn't Budweiser? It's pretty cool that you have beer at all in a college stadium but some choice would be sweet.
Gaitan unfortunately picked up a light injury in the pregame warm-up. He really wanted to play but wasn't deemed ready to go. Ultimately, the coaching staff and the player didn't want to risk aggravating the injury and making it worse.
Great stuff! Hope you're going to keep coming out to games and blogging about them. Everyone follow the blog!
