Tigana, Blanc, Metsu. I'd like to know more about Tigana. I have Monaco videos of him as coach, but apart from those few, I don't know much about him and even his stint as Fulham manager. What's his preferred tactics? With players who've played under him: Barthez, Henry, Trezeguet at Monaco and Saha at Fulham any thoughts on what his preferred striking pair would be? He used to play Henry on the wing and Trez as a target man at Monaco. Same goes for Metsu. As for Blanc, we can all be unclear together!
Metsu beat France with Senegal took them to the World Cup quarter finals. Also won the Asian Champions League. What more could you want ??? Tigana was a failure at Fulham he lost control of the team. I dont think he can handle France's star players. He's seems too much like Santini. Too much of a loyal guy to the veterans. Metsu is a tough no nonsense guy Tigana would let his players walk all over him. Blanc needs to prove himself at club level before becoming nation team coach. Heck Troussier is my second choice behind Metsu and hes not even a finalist for the job ! I think having national team head managing experience is important because its not the same as a club job. Metsu and Troussier have all the national team experience you need and they've had success.
What makes a good national team boss ??? Thinking about it for 2 minutes ... You need someone that 1) has a solid understanding of the game 2) watches a whole lot of players so that he can select from a large pool 3) has or can gain the respect of all the players he chooses to select (if the player shows any sign of disrespect, get out and don't come back whoever that is ... playing for national team is an honor and there are plenty of pple that can be replaced) 4) takes responsibility for every single thing (don't start listening to players about what tactical choices should be made) 5) probably more that I can't think of. I do agree that a proven record with a senior national team is a big plus. We have two centenders with such records (Metsu and Troussier), so that should limit the choices. I think Domenech is also a contender and, if he coaches like he played, he does not fool around. He's also part of the DTN. I don't know his coaching style very well though. Tigana will bring chaos most likely. Blanc should not even be mentioned. I now kinda feel bad for Santini. Maybe he did not have much control about the situation. It looks like he wanted to get the heck out of there. iougs-
