3 big games coming up in 6 days 04/08 PSV (a) 04/11 Arsenal (h) 04/14 PSV (h) And all the games on TV. Get that VCR fired up... Can we make it past PSV? (Yes, but it won't be easy) Can we create some magic against Arsenal? (Faint hope, but hope none the less) It's time to make the season memorable. With Woodgate, Dyer and Bells back, anything is possible... maybe even some hardware. If we get through PSV, then it would be Marseille or Inter. Both teams can be had.
...and so Newcastle's ascension continues. It is no wonder that Gullit said about the club what he did, considering that Robson's success reflects poorly on Gullit. Perhaps the club has been underperforming in the league this season, but everyone knows well that the potential is there, and Newcastle has been showing it lately.
Yes, but others are going to have to step up besides Shearer and Speed. The only other consistent players are Bellamy and Woodgate, and I would bet the latter is the club's next skipper.
I agree, CT, but the team is hitting form just now. It would have been better to have more consistent good form during the earlier part of the season, but if you are only going to have one really good run, the end of the season is the best time for it. Now that Woodgate is fit, the whole defence looks more confident - the odd slip apart. Jenas is playing as if he really means it. Robert had a patchy game last night, but played two killer balls for the goals. Both strikers are harassing opposition defences. It raises the question of how we replace Shearer and Speed, but we shouldn't have to face that for another year - although I do think we need to identify a solution before then.
And another great week about to start 04/18 Villa (a) 04/22 Marseille (h) 04/25 Chelsea (h) I'll be happy with a draw at Villa and wins over OM and Chelski. Thanks to FSW Canada and Sportsnet, 4 out of the 5 next game live. As for Shearer and Speed, this should make an interesting thread on its own.
Let me just preface this post by saying that I really am pleased we are hitting form and at the right time. But...... I would say that Robert has far too many matches where he is not involved or only involved in parts. If he really is worth the 9 million or so we paid for him, then he's got to be consistently good, and I don't mean have a cracking 2 matches and then back to doing ************ all the next 3-4. As for Jenas....it's about ************ing time. I mean honestly, where has he been for most of the season? He's been one of the team's biggest disappointments for me this season. I think we need to be searching for Gary's replacement this summer. But, I don't really have an idea who we should be looking at.
