HT get one back, 2-1 at the half.

    3-1 now.

If Huddersfield lose, and Chesterfield win (scoreless right now), Huddersfield are relegated.

Chesterfield got a late winner, so Huddersfield will be relegated.

The Rapids will take you right now. (And I'm sure they're not the only ones...)

I think every team could use JT right now.

What's his contract status? Does he have a relegation clause?

From what I heard he's on a £5K a week contract. Of course he wasn't being paid because the clubs in trouble, but I don't see him making that kind of cash over here.

Most likely he will look to sign with a club in England for the 2003-04 season.

At least we won't hear people screaming for him to get more play w the USNT any time soon.

I heard this one kicked off BIG STYLE after the match.

    quite a few arrests.

Really is sad to see Huddersfield go down. I've never had anything against them.... even thought they would have a shot at the playoffs to the premiership before they got releagated.

Sucks for JT but what does not kill ya makes ya stronger.

Hope he sticks with it over in Europe and finds a club suitable for him.

actually, given the RM's called in for the Mexico match (Jones, Stewart, LD, Klein) I still would like to see Thorrington given a shot or two. We are a bit thin/old with "true" RM's and some of JT's problems have had to do with HT's financial strains. Just how much remains to be seen.

He needs to be playing soon. His agent should be working on a move already, somewhere, anywhere.

English 2nd division bench players as a matter of practice arent going to be getting callups anytime soon.

Im sorry, you have to be playing frequently in a higher division to get a call in.

Thanks Bruce. Don't know how I survived these last couple of years without your input. Don't know if you've heard of Eddie Lewis and the Fulham reserves, or Landon Donovan and the Bund 4, or Frankie Heydude and the Bund 4, but you might want to check some past BS threads to refresh your memory.

Much as Mr. Arena has stated that you have to be playing "first team football" to get a look, it is not scribed in stone. I still think that we are not as deep in "true" RM's as we need to be and as a result Thorrington may get another look. Or he may not. I'm just not sure it's up to you, or me.

Donovan, Heydude, Lewis and Kirovski (who Ive added to the list) were all signed to first division clubs in top european leagues and with the exception of Donovan (who I think was a special case that likely wont be repeated in the future) still appearing on the benches for those clubs and getting full reserve minutes. Which means they were at least practicing against some first division quality players, as opposed to Thorington who right now is only getting 3rd division practice and a handfull of 3rd division minutes.

If Thorington were going through just a rough stop after having had multiple seasons of success in a higher league, then maybe Id be more open to it. But again he really hasnt shown he can compete at a higher level yet, and his current situation doesnt really warrant a look at this time.

What "higher level" was he given a chance to play? He was on the verge of signing with Bolton before a torn hamstring muscle wrecked those plans (and a likely Olympic spot). He signed on with HT and agreed to a contract with "incentives". Now that HT is in extreme financial difficulties, is it any wonder that they don't want to play him? Unless he could single-handedly keep them from relegation,he's screwed as far as playing.

This happens in lots of major sports. If a team is struggling, the "big money" incentive players get benched.....you can't blame Thorrington for signing a contract to "prove himself".

I dont blame Thorington really, hes had some rough luck. But he needs to settle his club situation before he should worry about being considered for the Nats, and because of that I dont think he warrants a call up.

I don't want to make mountains out of molehills here. Thorrington is a good ways away from a call-up, given how little he's played since the Ecuador friendly. Still, I think he's a bit higher up the depth chart due to his position. Given that Jones and Stewart are a bit long in the tooth, Sanneh old and hurt, Cherundolo more likely at RB, Olsen not yet 100%, LD more "naturally" a forward/a-mid and Klein fine but not exceptional, Thorrington may have a better chance of getting a look as a RM, rather than if he were, for example, an LM and languishing behind Run D, JOB, Eddie the eagle, Convey etc. If not JT, there is room for someone to step up on the right.
