You can't stop John Thorington's throws-in, you can only hope to contain them.

Any chance that we overestimated Thorrington's ability? The guy has an EU passport also........Just playing Devil's advocate here.

It seems he never regained after his Pre-Oly injury. IIRC, he was on the verge of signing with Bolton when he injured himself. Then a stint with BL 04 and then a brief glimpse in HT. He could still play his way up the divisions.

i think JT deserves better than what hes gettin at HT these days - last year he was a constant and they did well, this season he can hardly get a game and they struggle - personally id love it if, A- he stays in england, but moves on from HT and B- gets a look from BA and the Nats - i caount JT as a pretty influential attack winger

I'm hoping, of course, that his coaches are underestimating him, and all that, but I'm not sure.

He needs to step it up, though, if he wants to stay in England. He's not old by a long shot, but teams are becoming less and less likely to rely on experienced journeymen in their mid-20s when for the same salary they can have 3 kids in their late teens, one of whom might possibly bloom and re-pay the investments in ways an older player isn't likely to do.

I'm basically rehashing a point that an out-of-work 24 year old player made in last month's FourFourTwo. Ominously for JT, the player was developed by none other than Man U.

There is always room in MLS.
I don't know if it's the coaching change but his experience is similar to Lewis' and Berhalter's, though in a lower division; a new coach and playing time drops dramatically.
Right now he seems to have nothing to lose by leaving; he's sitting on the bench at an English Division 2 club so there must be a better situation out there for him.
    When does his contract expire?
They're paying him relatively good money, right?

The pre-BS crash forums had a thread about HT going through some financial difficulty and that Thorrington was one of the higher paid players.

JT is on First Division wages for a club that is close to being regulated to the Third Division.

Just imagine the top of football they play---sometimes we think the EPL minus Chelsea, ManUre, and Arsenal is direct, gawd just think of Division 2. Helter Skelter springs to mind as an adjective.

Ive seen JT and Huddersfield in action about a year ago vs. Wycomb and I can say that, while he was not very consistent, he was clearly very talnted. Except for maybe Leon Knight he had the best skills for his side and showed of some sublime moves. He set up two goals and had a few chances for himself which he missed rather badly.

Division 2 is cleary not as skilled as the premiership or the First Division but I think some people may be surprised at the quality. The play was very chipp and up and down with a lot of long balls which is definitely not condusive to JT's game so maybe thats one reason why he's had some poor showings. I remember hearing that several division 1 clubs and even a few teams from the premiership were interested last year and i think he would do well with a move.

Also, I remember him being hurt last season, right? He maybe still hasn't regained the form he had before that injury. Having seen that Wycombe match meig9 mentioned, he looked very good on the ball, is very, very quick and looks to go forward. I think, if he regains his form, he could play in D1. If he improves from what he's capable of (and he's still young), he could be in the Premiership easy.

Anyway, he needs a change of scenery -- and I don't mean D3.

Guys do what they wanna do, but this kid really looks like someone that should consider MLS, unless the pay he's getting is just a ton better. The level of play that low down has to be worse than MLS, and I can't imagine the money is all that great. He was on Arena's radar, but I would be surprised to see him get much of a shot riding a bench in the lower divisions. Playing regularly in MLS, on the other hand...

Playing in Europe can be more high profile if he hopes to get on a top level team someday, but riding the bench on a crap team ain't gonna so squat for his career.

I think we would all be surprised if JT spends another year with HT.
