If Muller has a similar season next year it will be difficult to drop him unless Reus has a stellar season and takes the 6th attacking player spot behind Sane, Gnabry, Havertz, Brandt and Werner
The only chance of Muller making the squad is if Low gets fired, otherwise I just can't see him getting a recall. Low would see it as losing face. Personally I think it is wrong to rule out calling up any player, the national squad should be selected based on form not favouritism.
I wrote below on das boot thread. Allow me to copy paste again. And believe me Low will choose Christian Woerns and Karl Heinz Foerster to come out of retirement before recall Hummels and Boateng to NT. He will called up Bernd Schuster rather than recall Thomas Mueller. We all need to remember something. The coach of football club or even NT is pretty much a position just as our day to day work. Lots of ego, hubris and political scheming involved. If somebody with inflated ego such as Elizabeth Holmes and Adam Neumann could run their respective multi billions USD worth company to the ground by any means of corporate malfeasance necessary, Joachim Loew could do whatever by calling whoever to the NT. And its not even a crime in doing so. So, Kimmich to RB, forget it. Hummels, Boateng, Muller, forget it
My point being, Low MIGHT regret his decision to axe Muller Hummels Boateng. But this idiot took the trip to sabener strasse to inform his decision personally to those 3, and the media of course report this event. If this is not stupidity at the highest order, I don't know what it is. Even if he blamed those 3, JUST DON'T CALL THEM AGAIN DISCREETLY. Because one of those 3 might rejuvenate their form, sudden injury to other member and whatnot. And he won't losing face by recall one of them. Am I right?
Totally right. Said it at the time. Why limit yourself, you don't have to pick them if you don't think they deserve it at that point, but why not leave the option open if things change? It doesn't make sense. It's a moot point though. Muller won't be called up again until Low is gone. I wonder which will happen first though, Low leaving or Muller retiring?
In corporate politic, there is a saying which quite famous in my country "There is no eternal enemy, only eternal self-interest". Low as the NT coach he should know better. Don't make enemy of your own players, do not antagonize them. He could easily just not pick Muller Hummels Boateng and said it with big grin to the media "of course they still have a chance, only if they play better. Everyone is equal". Whether it will occur or not, it is not important. Play it beautifully. But it is too much for an imbecile like him to have this train of thought.

I really had no intention to undermine Muller or even Xavi achievement. But just want to point out during KdB stint at Wolfsburg, he was played with (I need wikipedia help here) Nicklas Bendtner, Bas Dost, Schuerrle, Perisic, Aaron Hunt. Now compared to Muller team mate now. Again, I really like Muller. I do. I am happy of what he managed to achieve now. But I found out Bayern fans, how to say it for lack of better word over-rated Muller achievement and shown direspect to what KdB achieve back then. I don't know, I also see firsthand how they ridicule Bernd Leno for his latest comment about Bayern dominance in Bundesliga despite the fact that EPL manage to have 3 different club winning (and soon Liverpool will make it to 4 different clubs) in the last 7 years as opposed to bundesliga. I don't blame Bayern seriously. It's not Bayern fault that other club especially clubs like BVB, Schalke that is not necessarily piss poor, manage to screw it up season in and out. And the worst part they keep mentioning how Arsenal being trashed 10-2 by Bayern although that's not what Leno said. He just expressing his opinion that the disparity in bundesliga is too big. And Bayern fans also ridiculed him by saying Liverpool leading the table with much more outrageous points but again, Leno context is the last few years, not this season alone. I know that Bayern under Flick manage to rejuvenate after the Ancelotti and Kovac disaster, and I am really happy with this. But the success I think is starting to get over the fans head.
47 - @esmuellert_ has won 47 games in the DFB-Pokal for @fcbayern_en (excluding penalty shootouts), club record with Gerd Müller and Sepp Maier. Mighty. #FCBSGE #DFBPokal pic.twitter.com/rOOKntrSEM— OptaFranz (@OptaFranz) June 10, 2020
20-year-old Thomas Müller at the World Cup 2010:v Australia ⚽️🅰️v Serbia ❌v Ghana 🅰️v England ⚽️⚽️🅰️v Argentina ⚽️v Uruguay ⚽️6 games, 5 goals & 3 assists. Tournament's top scorer. About KdB I agree with you that he played with bums Regarding Leno, he can shut up. His team Arsenal is going 16yrs without a league title maybe he should focus on that first. Bayern in the last 7yrs have lifted their game to match the top European teams making 6 CL semis but unfortunately the other Buli teams cannot keep up. The the 2000s when Bayern was mediocre other German sides like Bremen Wolfsburg Stuttgart were able to win Maybe Leno should have stayed back to make Leverkusen stronger to challenge for the league instead of jumping to a club that has no hope of winning anything Bayern retain their top stars, Other sides lose theirs Werner Sancho Harvetz the best players in Bayern domestic rivals might be leaving their clubs to English sides making the task of Bayern even easier next season.
While your assessment in KDB is spot in but keep in mind that Bayern had a disastrous first half of the season under Kovac and Muller was a benchwarmer...he would have had more assists/goals if he had played more minutes this year
Is the comparison with KdB not for a season when he was at Man City rather then Wolfsburg? I get the impression it is given Xavi's (who never played BL) presence in the list?
Thomas Müller is the first player on record to register 21 assists in a single Bundesliga season, breaking Kevin De Bruyne's record for Wolfsburg (20).[Squawka]— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) June 27, 2020

Found an amusing comment on Lionel Messi, Thomas Muller in the Guardian after Barca's defeat: "Lionel Messi, the poor man’s Thomas Müller, ".
4 - @esmuellert_ will appear in his fourth @ChampionsLeague final (2010, 2012, 2013, 2020), thus equalling the German record (@ToniKroos also has four final apps). Legend. #PSGFCB #UCLfinal pic.twitter.com/acw7wRiNrd— OptaFranz (@OptaFranz) August 23, 2020
