Thomas expected to start. Braunschweig needs to win to get off the bottom of the table and help their chances against relegation.
Nothing do with this game, but that's what I found some minutes ago on a sarcastic soccer page. They choose the fool of the months and Braunschweig's Coach Uwe Reinders was one of the candidates in February. He finished last ranked (he had no chance against Uli Hoeneß' sentence "I'm one of the most social people I know"), but the text contained a dialogue between him and Thomas: It was the morning of the game against St Pauli. The team was celebrating Thomas' birthday. Reinders enters: "How old?". Thomas: "26". Reinders: "Can you make a door?". Thomas: "What???". Reinders: "Ehm... a goal?". Thomas: "Yes". Reinders: "Good, then you're playing". [door is "Tür" and goal is "Tor" in German]
FT 0-1 Thomas subbed out in the 74th minute and Braunschweig gave up a late goal to lose and remain rooted to the bottom of the 2.Bundesliga.
Crazy game. Actually Braunschweig played a very good game, but missed to score. Thomas had two chances - a rather weak 18m shot over the crossbar and a header that could be saved by the superb goalie. Duisburg had one shot on goal in each half - and the one of the second half was in with friendly support of Braunschweig's goalie. To me it seemed that Thomas, who btw. played with bandage on one hand, was not as good as in the last weeks.
