Im so upset and annoyed at how we went out! I keep thinking, its a game of inches! if Cannavaro never hits that ball with his leg and deflects it NZ never scores, then we got a post shortly after, that could have set us through! Our offsides today inches, then the ball off the line again inches. Inches from glory but also so far away. Im just sad, upset and really down. Four years is just too long to wait to fix this pain :(

I don't even know what to say anymore... I have said so much already...

3 games.... ... our team worked hard in the last 20 minutes....

Are you so good and so arrogant that we think we can advance with a 20 minutes of hard work?

When you look at it that way it is even more harder to swallow. Four years is a long time to deal with this embarassment, but i guess a shining light is in a few months time Prandelli will be working with a new group of players and we might restore some pride come the Euros.

Hey, we enjoyed the past 4 years as World Champs. Now we have to build from the ground up again. I did not have fun watching them not make it out of the group, but at the same time, I know change is on the horizon and I'm excited about it.

In all honesty, I knew this day was coming. We kind of witnessed an end of an era. But, I really believe Italy is going to rebound rather quickly.

Italy were not good enough - game of inches or not. Did Portugal have 7 inches of luck in their 7 goals? Ha - ha - at least they could score goals - we sucked - our forwards were lost - only quags was worthy of coming to the cup - instinka was a dud who did one good flick on in a space of 270 mins, he was good for nothing but faking penalty falls, doing dumb passes and kicking other player shins...gila was a joke - the guy is not azzurri material and no defender (even the crap NZ ones) fear gila....he guy is way out of his depth. Inzaghi with 10 years on him is twice the poacher. Lippi was laughable - left behind all the players that can score and brought the duds - please dont compare italy to argentina - they would spank us 12 nil easily

I don't think we'll see Italy transform into a team with a relentless offense. But, I want to see that confidence on the pitch again, the swagger Italy carries when they step onto the field KNOWING if they get a goal, it's game over.

We need to restore some pride and inject fear back into our opponents. I'm afraid it will take years and some hard work from Prandelli and his team. The FIGC need to wake up as well. No team fears us, as demonstrated by each of our group opponents.

Lippi has sure left his mark on the nazionale, first lost to an African side in our history, losing the head to head record with Brazil, first loss to Mexico in our history and worst finish in a world cup ever. He has undone everything he did in 2006 *shakes head*.

    as a non-italian i can tell u i feel u 100% as if it was my country :(

but look forward to Euro 2012 which is not far, winning that is as good as winning the world cup and it's italy's chance to win their respect back

but i am sad at how italy defended its world championship with NO heart!

man its that mentallity that has put italy in the place they're at

dont u see that does not work in today's football, even in the past it was luck when it happened...u should and u must always always play for a WIN and even if u score, still continue to score more....being up 2-0 still doestn mean anything cuz ONE goal changes momentum and it'll lead to a 2nd goal, so nothing is safe, nothing...just keep playing for a win til 90min is done

exactly! The fact that Lippi is leaving dosn't mean that we will see a major transformation, the whole system needs to change, the mentality from the top not only the players on the field! Time to play modern football, its not 1070 anymore!
