I agree but the kid is just 19 so rather than sell I'd loan him for a couple seasons coz at 21 I think this guy will blossom just like Elliott is right now. At a minimum get a buy back clause.
I'd still just loan him for a year at present, just to keep tabs and see how he goes.... then sell him next year with a buyback if they want him
the rumour-mill echo chamber is saying Gordon is prepared to go on strike to force a transfer to Liverpool.
Remember these guys see things we don’t normally see. That in all likelihood means they’ve identified a replacement for Gomez if he were to leave; I’m assuming he’s angling to leave for regular starts because I’d be puzzled if we’re doing the pushing.
I think it's more his camp pushing for a move back home and we're trying to back off and politely say please ******** off. It's very worrying to me they're looking in the 1 area where we're fine, both in quality and quantity. He's decent at best and signing someone like him for the price he's command would be no top CB and no top DM.
I'm wondering if Diaz is trying to maneuver a move to Barcelona since it looks like Nico Williams won't be going there. Another scenario: PSG are offering a butt load of money for Diaz. I like Diaz a lot, but Gordon wants to be at Liverpool and Diaz wants to be somewhere else. asitis
Agreed. But there's very little that's concrete in this discussion. Most of this is just speculation, some a bit more informed than others. asitis
Because we rate him. The guy has come on leaps and bounds in the past year and a half . No doubt the club feels he can become even better and being a local lad doesnt hurt. If he comes we'll have Trent , Quansah , Jones and Gordon all from Liverpool or surrounding area. .
Liverpool have rejected an offer worth about £15m from Southampton for Fabio Carvalho. It is believed Southampton have had a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old forward, but their bid falls significantly short of what the Reds would want to sanction a permanent move.
Liverpool are looking for at least £12m to even consider selling midfielder Bobby Clark, 19, who is being eyed by Red Bull Salzburg, Norwich and Leeds.
Interesting. I wonder what the number is for Carvalho? You’d have to think his preseason performances have added some millions to it. We all know the dangers of reading too much into preseason performances, either individual or team, but Carvalho does seem a more settled, complete player than the one who started last season for us.
That’s about double what we bought him for isn’t it? Fair play to the club for rejecting all these pitiful offers for our squad players, letting them know we won’t be taken for mugs.
We didn’t pay much of anything for him. His contract had expired at Fulham, and Fulham were entitled to a fee that was determined by a tribunal. At the time he was one of biggest prospects in all of football. Carvalho himself spoke about his ambition to win the Ballon d'Or. Southampton’s reported offer is way too low in my opinion. Carvalho struggled to fit into Klopp’s team because he lacked the pace to play up front, and lacked the size and strength to play in midfield. He is a much better fit for what we have seen from Slot’s team so far. Slot has supposedly been spending a lot of time personally working with Carvalho in training It will be interesting to see if we keep him around. There are now 4 forward positions to fill and we will need depth up front. If we are to sell, we should be getting way more than what Southampton offered.
Never mind Carvalho when is a team going take Nat Phillips? Pretty soon he'll be qualifying for his testimonial game.
We ended up negotiating a deal with Fulham to avoid a tribunal. It wasn't a small fee relatively - like 6-8m.
Some young players are almost guaranteed to be sold since we cannot realistically promote all of team into the first team and they will generate funds for other deals. Plus that revenue from the sales will go a long way to keeping the club in compliance with PSR
It’s still less than he would have been worth in an open market. We essentially signed him on a free. He’s worth way more than the 15 million that Southampton offered.
These are deals I wish we'd do more of, only outside of the UK. How many talented 16-19 year old's have we signed from Europe.....Africa.....South America?
