Manchester United are interested in Borussia Dortmund's 22-year-old Germany forward Karim Adeyemi but could face competition from Newcastle and Liverpool.
someone got paid to write this .... Liverpool want a defensive midfielder and a left-sided centre-back in January. (Football Insider)
decisions, decisions -- laugh, cry, snort in derision? or all of the above? According to reports in Spain, Martin Zubimendi wants to sign for Liverpool in January - just months after rejecting a move to Anfield. In July, Sociedad accepted a £51m bid from Liverpool, however, the Reds' move for the Euro 2024 winner fell through as he decided to stay put with his boyhood club. However, Estadio Deportivo are reporting that after Sociedad's below-par start to the season - one win from six La Liga games - Zubimendi has asked Liverpool to explore the possibility of signing him in January.
Not necessarily - you could run a double pivot - and more importantly - you get a very high quality player to help rotate. the 3 main guys - Grav, Mac, Szob - are going to be run into the ground at this rate unless Curtis Jones steps up. Harvey is out til the end of October. Unlikely that Tyler M is a real option. Endo isn't trusted at all. We are really light in the midfield.
But...there are several youngsters that seem ready to get into the mix next year if not later this year..Nyoni (sp?), Baj and one I'm forgetting?
There are but we can't bank on them. Zubimendi is known high quality player. its a good problem to have if it materializes.
I read somewhere very shortly after Zubmendi and Sociedad put an end to the summer move, that Sociedad had overplayed their hand. Firstly they promised him an armada of yachts and half of the Basque Territory to stay. But if he wanted to go, he himself had to pay the release clause. Also the way that clause had been written meant that if Liverpool had loaned him the £50m, it would then be booked as income which meant that he would have been liable for ~£20m in income taxes. The release clause shenanigans were seen as Sociedad playing hardball. Which they sweetened with the yachts and Basque Territory. Don’t know what the inducements were, but very shortly after the deal was declared dead, Sociedad pulled the rug on a lot of the prizes. A lot. So blatantly (targeting the best inducements) that Zubimendi supposedly tried to force the transfer dealings back on. That he has now trying to force a January move, again supposedly, is hardly a surprise given the way his previous negotiations went with the club.
That’s only a figure aspirational with Chelsea. They’ve said by 2029, they hope to be down to 37 midfielders.
That’s the impression I got, too. I always thought the decision not to come had an unuttered question mark. Much of what was said in the aftermath was from the mouth of Real Sociedad’s president.
Liverpool are ‘leading the race’ to sign Jonathah Tah on a free transfer in 2025, with Arne Slot’s side reported to have nudged their way past a host of Premier League rivals including Manchester United to sign the Bayer Leverkusen defender. There have been claims that the Reds were in Paris on Wednesday to watch Girona take on PSG. The two focuses of their attention were said to be left-back Miguel Gutierrez and winger Victor Tsygankov. As per the source, Loic Bade has a release clause in his contract worth around £42m (50 million euros) but Liverpool will be able to pull off the signing for around £25.3m (30 million euros). According to an exclusive report covered by 90min, the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Leicester and other clubs have been interested in Coventry City’s Sam McCallum but Liverpool are set to secure his signing. Liverpool are continuing to watch Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez as they plan for the future of the left-back position, TEAMtalk can reveal. Now, a new report claims Liverpool are working on a sensational bid for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala.
Liverpool are considering Juventus and Brazil centre-back Gleison Bremer, 27, as their ideal replacement for Dutchman Virgil van Dijk, 33.

Liverpool are progressing with contract talks for 27-year-old Colombia winger Luis Diaz despite frustrations with the player's representatives over the summer.
I'm rarely on an agent's side of things, but can hardly blame them for being frustrating... the dude is on 55k a week. He's been a bargain.
