Well, to be fair, the fact that Mexico received a seed gives them a better shot at escaping group play than the US has. All things being equal I think the US is a slightly better team but things aren't exactly equal are they?

We are in the group of death. That's a little high, but not much worse than you could expect.

    So sad.

The US have become convinced of their place in world soccer greatness...but lo and behold!!!!! they are in a group that will bring them down to reality!!!!!and to think of all those dreams gone awry....gee....the US is in a difficult group; Mexico has been in difficult groups in the past three WC's and has mostly come out on top....this is the logic behind Mexico's seed. The US will become a seed when they earn it, not through wishful thinking.

    Sleep tight.

    You're funny.... looking.

    Ha ha ha

Seriously, why you Mexican trolls think you're team is so much better than the US? Not from results on the field... so why?

    That's even funnier :D

You want to discuss all this? Go ask Germans, Italians, Brazilians, Argentinians, etc.....ask them who they would rather face in the WC. Discussing US supposed superiority vis-á-vis Mexico between Mexicans and US fans is an exercise in futility. The US fans are way too full of themselves.
As to being a troll...Take a look around the threads and see who does most of the trolling.

The Germans would definitley want to play you. Ask any of the guys on the 2002 team why they all collapsed from exhaustion after the final whistle when they played us in the quarters in Korea.

    Some numbers to chew on...

23 is the number of games between the USA and Mexico since 1991, of which the United States has lost just seven times while compiling a solid 9-7-7 record and outscoring Mexico 27-20.

0 is the number of times Mexico has won in the USA since 1999.

0 Number of goals Mexico has scored in the USA since 1999.

3 is the number of goals scored by Mexico against the United States in this millenium, compared to 12 for the United States. Mexico has been shutout in seven of eight games against the U.S. since 2000.

2-0, well, we all know where those numbers come from.

Now, i think Mexico is a great team, but it difficult to make any argument about Mexico being better than the US in recent history.

All you really need to say is 2002. We beat them 2-0 when it mattered most. I think before that match the German's were hoping to play us, but sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.

As for this time around, I guarantee you that every European team was hoping to avoid us in the first round. We get more respect behind closed doors than people realize. The world just doesn't want to admit out loud that we are coming along quite nicely in recent years.

The reason the odds on the USA are so long compared to Mexico is the groups they were drawn in. Similarly this has affected the Holland and Argentina, since you have to qualify for the second round before you can win the tournament.

The implication that the odds are are direct comparison of the status, standing or skill of the teams is wrong. The bookies are much more astute than to use such simple markers when setting the book.

When did you last see a poor bookie?

If all you want to do is bring up ancient history and rest on your laurels... of which there are none, then the US made the semi's in 1930. That's better than you've ever done. I'm happy you were seeded, it will make you losing in the group stage that much sweeter.
