Thanks. Nothing new here, but it is good to see articles like that in more "mainstream" media outlets.
``I miss some family back in the States, but this is home now,'' he said. ``I've just signed a four-year deal and I don't know how much longer my body will hold out after that. But I don't see myself moving back anytime soon.'' That's pretty much what he said to me. I asked him if he was going to come back and play for Columbus, and he said that he just signed a new deal with Blackburn and he's not sure if he'll still be able to walk after that (in a bit of a joking way). He at least keeps up with Columbus as he knew all about how the team was doing, the playoff situation, and about the open cup. best keeper ever.
That was a very good article. Friedel says: "I miss some family back in the States." Some? Who is he leaving out?!!
jim Litke wrote it, he's the Associated Press's national columnist. Pretty much he gets to write on whatever he wants to, goes to all the big events ... the fact he chose to write about Friedel in the middle of baseball playoffs is a nice surprise.
No no, I see how you could have figured that though. I meant i had a talk with brad and he said some similar things to what was printed in the atricle. sorry if anyone thought i was taking credit for something i didn't write.
friedel article. great article. makes me believe more and more that when given the opportunity, more Americans would be more comfortable and willing to live abroad for longer periods of time when given the opportunity to play day in and day out, with results. Friedel has been given the opportunity, run with it, gotten results, and now has a new home with plenty of new fans supporting him, continuing to pave the way for the American player and the American football reputation.......we need more like him......
