    But misplaced, I think, as both the Camp Fire and the Park Fires amply illustrate.

    I have a soft spot for Smokey as he was a regular at the DC zoo when I was in my pre-pubescent zoo-going youth. I saw him half a dozen times growing up. (Unlike the pandas which I have never seen in maybe a dozen visits to the zoo. Those f*****s are always sleeping/hiding when I am there.)

    58 years ago tonight, September 8, 1966, Star Trek premiered on NBC. (Apparently, it premiered in Canada two days earlier.)
