If you listed 'em before, list 'em again.
If you haven't, well, list 'em.

Yeah, i'll bring it over. I have that much confidence in Peter Jackson, though. Actually, a mentor of mine who has hollywood connections got to see it in a viewing last week, he said it was immensly better than the 1st.

Best album of the year: Phrenology by the Roots. Any other picks are wrong and depressingly so. Nothing this good has come out in years.

Howie Day: Australia, or John Mayer: Room for Squares, or The Dave Matthews Band: Live at Folsom Field. Don't know if the first 2 came out in 2002 or not though.

I'm perennially late on musical purchases, but, for my money, The Soundtrack of Our Lives' Behind the Music is the cd for 2002.

    Re: The Master List

I'll try to fill out Skip's list.

    Film
Best movie I saw before 12/13: Insomnia
Best movie I saw on or after 12/13: None (I haven't seen many movies this year because of a cash shortage)

Pretty much all of my answers come down to that for film.

    Music
    Best album: The Roots, Phrenology
Best album someone burned for me: No one burned a cd for me this year that was from this year.
Best driving album: The Hives Veni Vedi Vicious[/b]
Best $24 show: Jurassic 5 with Blackalicious at the 9:30 Club (Blackalicious especially)
Best show involving ping pong balls, drum machine and a now defunct group: I'm just jealous Skip got to see Anti-Pop.

    Advertising
    Best commercial: Nike Scorpion Knock-Out
Best non-soccer commercial: Nike Presto "Angry Chicken"

    I'd like to add:

Best album not by the Roots: Mr. Lif I Phantom
Album I regret not getting yet: Queens of the Stone Age Songs for the Deaf
Worst Musical Moment: Nelly continues performing/Whiny, DMB knockoffs (which is sad in and of itself) are lauded as skilled artists

I guess I should've phrased it better. You can put it in any format you want to - it's just that my picks are inevitably better than yours, that's all.

I love the Roots and while I'm not hating "Phrenology" like many folk it's certainly a let down from "Things Fall Apart". There are a couple really great songs definitely ("Water") but the rest is really mediocre. And the single, "Break You Off", is craaaaap.

Great album but it was released over two years ago.

I knew it didn't come out this year but I could've sworn it came out in 2001. Oh well.

Anyway, it was my favorite album I burned in 2002.

Best album by someone with my last name: Elvis Costello, When I Was Cruel

Actually, that's probably my album of the year, although I certainly want to get Phrenology, and I really like Heathen.

I know I'm going to leave stuff out here, so if I have 10 or so additions after this, just bear with me (It's hard making the transition after graduation from thinking in school year to thinking in calendar year :)) In no particular order...

    Albums:
    Blackalicious -- Blazing Arrow
    Roots -- Phrenology
    DJ Shadow -- Private Press
Pavement -- Slanted and Enchanted: Luxe and Reduxe
Vines -- Highly Evolved (the Hives CD came out in 2000)
    Weezer -- Maladroit
Badly Drawn Boy -- About a Boy
    Mr Lif -- I Phantom
Chemical Brothers -- Come With Us
System of a Down -- Steal This Album

    Movies:
    Minority Report
    About A Boy
    Bowling for Columbine
    Insomnia
Black Hawk Down (I'll throw this in 2002)

Pretty crappy year for movies I've seen when I look back

    Best DVD pickup:
    Definitely Zoolander

    TV:
The World Cup (naturally ;) )
    Fox Sports World
    24
    Family Guy
    Undeclared
