Canada playing Trinidad in a playoff game to go to Copa America in an empty stadium somewhere in Texas. Really?
You could expand this idea to hatred of CONCACAF having all these stoopid tournaments, and always in the US of A, just to grab that American cash from imbeciles that don't know any better. ..also, the 4th official is stupid, and could/should be put into the center of the pitch; the administrative job of the 4th official could easily replaced by an inanimate object, such as a signpost.
That rubbish kit Forest wore on Sunday. I know they want to push merchandise sales, but if you were a Forest supporter, would you really want to pay money to wear that atrocity?
It's not as bad as that hideous blue, black, and yellow shit that we wore last year, but yeah. Kits and their marketing definitely have their place in this thread.
I assume you are referring to Sam Morsy? Calling him a bigot is a pretty broad statement. Last time I checked, Great Britain still had freedom of religion, choice, and expression. By demonizing someone for making a decision based on religion, you are no better than those who demonize the LGBTQ community. This woke culture (coming mostly from the left) is becoming tiresome and is what is leading to the rise of populism in the West. You Yanks should know this better than anyone. Before rushing in with the pitchforks, take the time to educate yourself: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cevgyx14vpxo Here are some excerpts from the BBC article: It is not compulsory for captains to wear the armbands, which are provided by the Premier League, along with other matchday assets. But Ipswich Town said in a statement on Monday that the 33-year-old Egypt international, who is a Muslim, made the choice based on his religious beliefs. "We proudly support the Premier League's Rainbow Laces campaign and stand with the LGBTQ+ community in promoting equality and acceptance," the club said. "At the same time, we respect the decision of our captain Sam Morsy, who has chosen not to wear the rainbow captain's armband due to his religious beliefs." Ipswich Town LGBTQ+ supporters' group Rainbow Tractors told BBC Radio Suffolk: "While Rainbow Tractors were aware in advance of the decision, we are disappointed that Sam Morsy chose not to wear the rainbow armband in support of the Rainbow Laces campaign. "We do, however, continue to respect his religious beliefs as we have done in previous seasons."
Stonewall are a dreadful organisation/pressure group currently being dropped by many companies in the UK. Not sure why the FA aren't following suit.
OK just a brief word of explanation, then I'll drop it. First of all, I don't know much about UK culture - never been there - but I do see a lot of social media content from there. Now that I am avoiding all things political (for the sake of my sanity), about 1/3 of what "the algorithm" shows me is football related, mostly English football. My reaction was less about the player than what I see on social media, where the player is being hailed as a hero (I would say at least 90% of the comments). So why do EPL teams do this rainbow armband thing? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe they are trying to force anyone to have gay sex or whatever. I think the message they are trying to convey is, "It's OK (and safe) to come out and support your local team; we treat everyone with respect." (It's a smart business move; they want everyone's money.) And if a player goes out of his way to disagree with that message, I don't think very highly of them as a person. The religion in which I was raised has similar extremists, and I don't like them, either. The player can say or do whatever repugnant thing they like (I suppose, not knowing what is in their contract), but the response I was seeing on social media was very disappointing.
I also hate when the algorithm feeds me stories about the San Antonio Spurs basketball team. It even gets my wife. Her: I was sorry to read that Spurs' coach has serious health problems. Me: What?? I hope Southampton fans don't get bombarded with stuff about the New Orleans Saints. They have enough to worry about without the added misery.
First of all, I wouldn't use social media as a barometer of what any society thinks. In any event, people have the right to praise or criticize his decision, without demonizing him. Second of all, you're doing it again: why do you call him an extremist? How do you even know he is an extremist? Why do you say he is doing repugnant things? Have you met him? Have you talked to him? Again, you are making broad, unfounded statements and are demonizing a person who is exercising his democratic rights. The woke left can't accept that some people don't fall in line with their totalitarian ideology. If someone dares to question their doctrine, they are immediately labelled a bigot/transphobe/racist/homophobe/fascist (take your pick).
Utd are 0-1 down at home and one of their players fouls an opposition player in the penalty area. PINHEAD. This sort of stupidity in football will never change.
