After 26 years of reffing, I found one more thing not to do this past weekend! During a U14G game that was going smoothly. A small dog on a leash starts barking just off the touch line on the spectator side - near play. I decide this is a potential problem. The ball is about 25 yards downfield from me. I point to the dog and sternly ask that he be moved away from the touch line. In the second I look towards the sideline and the dog, I got nailed in the outstretched hand by the ball. Why did I need to point? Any other interesting tips?
