Two months in, Monaco was 19th of 20 in Ligue 1, and they fired manager Leonardo Jardim. Two-and-a-half months later, while still in 19th, Henry was fired on Thursday. In his last game, they lost 3-1 hosting Metz from Ligue 2 in the Coupe de France Round of 32. They re-hired Jardim, who the players liked better than Henry. Jardim didn't help in his first game back as they lost 2-0 at Dijon, who moved up from 18th to 16th with the win. Monaco won Ligue 1 two seasons ago, which was the only one of the last six titles not won by Paris Saint-Germain. Paris Saint-Germain had only two titles before those five. Henry's managing was the opposite of his national team teammate Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
Sometimes get into these death spirals and before you know it they are well on their way to relegation. I'm not sure that 2.5 months is enough time to determine whether Titi is a good coach or not--but either way getting sacked is not a good feeling. Hope he rebounds somewhere else successfully.
With 5 games left, Monaco is 16th. They're 4 points ahead of 18th place Dijon and 6 points ahead of 19th place Caen. 18th goes to a promotion/relegation playoff.
