didn't see this posted anywhere: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=315292&cc=5901 "The procedure attempted to relieve the symptoms of synovitis and chondromalacia in his left knee." does anyone know anything about these symptoms? note: the surgery was actually on 11-2, the write-up was dated 11-3
synovitis - inflammation of the synovial membrane that lines a synovial joint; results in pain and swelling chondromalacia - Abnormal softening or degeneration of cartilage of the joints, especially of the knee.
The following two links may be of use, but in layman's terms--his cartilage is weak and his knee is swollen. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=synovitis http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=chondromalacia
I'm not a doctor but I do know to look things up on the internet: synovial chondromatosis, formation of multiple intrasynovial nodules resembling osteochondromas, resulting from proliferative changes in the synovial linings of joints; as the disorder progresses, nodules increasingly forsake the intrasynovial areas for the joint cavities. Sounds icky! K
Definitely, but i'm not holding my breath at this point. The poor guy just can't catch a break Maybe if he stopped riding his bike to work and running up and down RFK until the Doc clears him it'll stick this time -dave
Probably from bags falling apart on him in the rain and him having to bend at the knees while a good samaritan (wink wink) stands over him w/ his umbrella.
This kinda thing takes time. We saw it with Nicky and hes back to form now. Personally, I had two acl surgeries during senior year of highschool. They say that it takes about a full year from the surgery to fully recover. The key is gaining your "bodily kinesthetic awareness" back. Thats what my physical tharapist told me. The body needs to get used to be active again more or less. Hopefully he can make the preseason.
Are you sure you didn't make that up? Somebody can actually understand that? Man this sucks for Thiago, I hope some good finally comes of it. Even if it's not him at least new practice fields (he injured himself originally on the practice fields last December).
That's what I have.....and have had since I was a kid. It's not fun, trust me! more info on it..... http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/926052680.html
It still sounds better than what Santino went through, what with hernias, adductor muscles, calcium deposits on pubic bones, etc. Besides, if he's sore, Thiago can rub HIS injury in public.
