I would have loved to hear him even mention anything bout a DP, however the fact that it was not brought up seems to say it all.
I can give you his answer now: " We are constantly looking to upgrade our players. While this a is a daunting task, we feel that there is no pressure at the moment to do so. Should the opportunity arrise and the correct player is identified, one that we feel would meet our needs as a DP and be the correct fit in the locker room then we will go all out to try and sign that player if his salary demands can be met."
All you need is John Cleese to say "In the fullness of time at the appropriate juncture" when asked about a more specific timeframe.
The stadium talk is interesting for sure, can't tell if it is just more of the same ol same ol but it's nice to be given some hope in that matter. I would be interested to hear what the other three potential loacations may be.
I honestly think they've always been working on the stadium, they just see no need to make it public.
Whole lot of nothing there. Don't care about the stadium issue. Why would the Krafts do this when they have Gillette? It makes no sense business-wise. People care most about DP issues. There was no mention of anything on this front. WE WILL NEVER GET ONE. Come to grips with that people. We will continue to sign nobodies from 3rd world countries. Deal with it. RC
While I don't like it, I get it... as long as they actually follow through and build a stadium. It will help them make a bigger splash if and when these things happen and a re-brand will get more attention if it is timed with the opening of a new stadium. With the way the media covers things a re-brand of the team won't raise that much attention however the building of a stadium certainly will bring a lot of attention to the team and the re-brand will make a bigger impact on the general public.
In case people can't read (regarding a DP)..... "Also look for answers from Michael Burns on personnel/team questions sometime this week."
I'm very encouraged that the organization seems to have been making progress on the stadium front and that something actually might get done after all. This IMO is more important than anything else. I still want a DP but if one had to come first I'd rather a new SSS. This would give the club a true home and would drive more interest overall.
"We had a fairly strong year for season ticket renewals, finishing tied for fourth in the league in renewal percentage." I read this as "8 out of the 10 remaining season ticket holders renewed last year". It's pretty easy to fudge the truth with percentages.
Damn these guys are good. They always manage to give just the right answers. They always hit on the right points, but everything they say is ambiguous enough that we have no freaking clue what's really going on with the team. The mention of the urban SSS and possible rebrand give me hope for the future that this franchise could be even quasi-professional, but I know that it's all just a hopeless dream. This is the story of being a Revolution fan, constantly being dragged along in hopes that we'll one day be rewarded for our dedication.
There's something telling when Brian specifically identifies the Somerville site. The Green Line maintenace building situation needed to be resolved before any development (stadium, mixed-use retail, residential) could begin to be discussed. Now that developers know what they have to work around, they can begin to work on conceptual studies to check on viability. If they find that the site works for what Bob Kraft has in mind, they could them move forward with a formal design. But this is a key first step nonetheless.
Awfully convenient. They say nothing, so they must be active behind closed doors beyond making fart noises and watching the US go down to Ghana.
So a blog comment, which passes for this year's official SSS 'string-along' is all it takes for you to be encouraged? I immediately thought the same thing. So if we only had 10 season ticket holders and all ten renewed, we could do the happy dance because, while the team next door had 20,000 season ticket holders, all ten of ours renewed for a 100% renewal rate. Please. This. This.
Improve the product!! If you still put out chicken sh_t instead of chicken salad, the attendance will be poor even in Boston (ie see past 2-3 games at Red Bull averaging 11,000) ; A very good product will draw from anywhere This is a global MLS problem just not NE Revolution. The answer is not transplanting a stadium because your close to a lot of people who'll pay 10 bucks for a crappy product
So, when he Bilello writes that their looking at 4 possible sites, and they've spent $1 million on developing a stadium, you assume he's lying?
" Buses/Public Transportation I’m not sure if buses from a local commuter rail stop will drive attendance for us given the overall time it would require. Considering the time it would take to get to North or South Station, take the train, get on a shuttle and arrive at the stadium, that’s a significant increase in travel time." I dont think he understands the idea that a large percentage of Boston residents do not own cars. It's not about "40 minute drive is less than 65 minute train." It's "impossible to get to versus option to get to" Also, what magical train goes from North Station down towards Gillette? Guy has probably never used the T in his life.
