Maybe this was the final dopey move that Chris Heck made before they fired him. Why in the world would the FO send season ticket holders a can of Red Bull when so many fans hate that we're named after a drink? Getting a can of Red Bull in a cardboard shipping tube has to be one of the more random things this team has done. If it was in fact Heck's idea... thank you! Anything to get him fired is a good thing.
I don't want a free gift. I would rather have them credit my account for the cost of the can, the cardboard tube and the shipping. Oh yeah... and the poorly-written whimsical pamphlet they included. That cost them money too. Or better yet, put $100 on each of my Red Member cards for 2013. That's real money I can spend that in the pub.
cant help but laugh talking of the Red Bull cans---i still think it would be cool to have a quarters "can jersey" as a 3rd uniform. Either that or a Metro red and black stripes tribute jersey......
Do you think they give a shit that people don't like the team being named after a drink (whatever that limited amount of people may be). They want to push their product.
The drink is incredibly ridiculous - $3 for a coke on steroids? I probably might be bummed if I had kids and they were drinking it, but I actually am one of the few who like it -- and it's great for a long night of poker. Just glad it wasn't around when I was younger...stuff can be dangerous. So send me your freebie
This would be why we are bent out of shape. We are sick of having this shoved in our collective faces. Shouldn't the Product be ON THE !@#*(&(*@()&#*(&# FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aren't they trying with the product on the field? I'm sure they didn't add Henry, Marquez, Cahill, Le Toux, etc, to just fill out the roster. They want to win as it helps promote their product as well
Its a strange mindset that because our team isn't 100% of their business operations, they must care 0% about it.
Maybe I exaggerated a bit, but you're gonna tell me there aren't RB fans who are convinced that the company couldn't care less about whether we win or not? I guess I'm more referring to the mindset that just because they want to promote their other products, it must mean that they don't want to team to succeed at all.
It is possible Red Bull Gmbh in Austria may not care 2 cents for what happens here sportingwise with the club. However, Soler and Backe are paid to do exactly that----and for the most part they are trying and have had some successes already. But, no matter how good a job Backe and Soler may want to do, their hands may be tied by how much leeway Corporate HQ in Austria is actually willing to give them. I was shocked when I read Heck's interview--when he said that Red Bull HQ refused to give him a marketing budget. Hello Red Bull Corporate!! are you in there??--youre in the NYC metro area--did you think you wouldn't have to advertise your team in order to capture a slice of the marketplace?? seriously?? It is the height of hypocrisy (or ineptitude not sure which one is in play here) to not give your executives the resources and help to be able to do their job properly and then sack them when results are not what they should be.
I would say that most that have a problem - have a problem with the fact that their primary focus is on promoting a soft drink. Winning is part of that promotion but it may be secondary. Case in point - taking the Emirates Cup much more seriously than the US Open cup. One means a lot to the fans, one gets the Red Bull name splashed across the world.
I don't see how you can complain....If it's free, it's for ME. I actually drink the stuff, it's good. Every team is a brand, some more than others. If you don't think the Yankees or the Cowboys are brands for example, you're naive. They sell their merchandise and push their image so that people who aren't even fans will buy their stuff because "it's cool." Red Bull is a billion dollar company, and paid for the arena and the team and have every right to put their name on said assets. Some teams will sell out to Xbox 360, Bimbo, Emirates, etc and allow those corporations on their kits...it's not a big difference. So either quit your whining, stay out of Red Bull Arena, or find another team to support.
I'm not new to this, and I understand the dislike of the brand by fans, but whining about a free sample is childish. Toss the can if you don't want it. Or blow it up in a creative way and post that on YouTube. But complaining is just freakin' annoying and childish, and all it accomplishes is turning a poster into a whiner.
I forgot that this board is for talking about how great everything is in the world, how puppies are really cute when they cuddle with you, and how nothing is wrong with RBNY whatsoever. Wait let me try this out... Dear RBNY Front Office, Thanks so much for the soda. It made me feel much more connected to my hometown soccer team. It was nice a few years ago when you gave us those hoodies, and this year was even better with those cool notebooks. I didn't think it could get any better but, out of nowhere, we got a can of Red Bull too. A gift of soda is cool because it turns into pee in about an hour. So it's really TWO gifts instead of one. You guys are the best! Your buddy, Steve
You know how I stick it to the man? I complain about the free drink they sent me! That'll show them!!!!!
Y'all sound like you're whining about whining Do we need this thread to further divide fans on this issue or can we shut it down?
