huh? I was pretty simple and direct he needs to play and regularly to have a chance with the USMNT. He may need to take a big pay cut to go to a lower level team where he will actually get PT. where did I say anything about character? If he simply wants max money - then take the bigger paycheck (if he can get it) to sit on the bench - and skip the WC - I have no issue with that. I just assumed he wants to play for the US and he needs to play regularly to do so.
On Easter Sunday, millions around the world went to church to commemorate the resurrection from the dead of a man who died 2,000 years ago. Why shouldn't Bigsoccer members drop by to see if Reyna's resurrected a BVB career that died 2 years ago?
Despite the possibility of damage limitation by qualifying for European competition, the season will have consequences for players. Gio Reyna has already been informed that he will have to look for a new club. The same applies to Salih Özcan. 🗞 @SPORTBILD #BVB— BVB Newsblog (@bvbnewsblog) April 22, 2025 Despite the possibility of damage limitation by qualifying for European competition, the season will have consequences for players. How many times has Bild reported that Reyna has to look for a new club?? It’s not that I don’t believe it, I certainly do. Just how many times does this justify a news story? It’s pretty obvious to everyone
Bobby Wood did that to perfection. He rode his big, fat contract to the very end even if he was told he’d never play for HSV again
It doesn't but a dead BL1 title race and German teams out of the EL and CL leaves a lot of pixel space to be filled and recycling transfer speculation is the easiest way to do that.
Only he did play for them again as HSV cycled through coach after coach - at least one new one every season - making 16 league appearances in his final season there. Mostly off the bench, but still. Why shouldn't he? He didn't do his knee deliberately and the risk of that happening while a player is on international duty is a part of football. HSV knew there had been issues there but, like clubs down the years, chose to sign him anyway and if they hadn't, someone else would. Maybe someone else who would have whined a lot less or had a better medical department He's 32 now and "without club" since the end of last season. He could live another 50 years and needs an income. The HSV money means he shouldn't have to worry about that
It justifies a “news story” for as long as enough people are willing to click the link and make the ad money roll in. Alas.
You almost have to respect the balls on Bobby Wood, who when even told by HSV that he would never sniff first team again and even when he was forced to train with the academy kids for months, was just like "cool, this is fun," as he continued to collect his paycheck.
"Almost". Why almost? Especially as he did manage some comparatively OK performances when they played him. A low bar as HSV continued to stagnate but still.
Sounds like you are jealous? In 20 to 21 HSV had Simon Terodde at striker. Terodde is the 2BL all time leading scores who scored 24 Gs in 30 appearances that year. Terodde has almost single handed promoted 3 seperate 2BL clubs; Stuttgart 25G in 30 matches, Koln 29G in 33 matches, and Schalke 30G in 30 matches.
Beg to differ. His 30 G in 21 to 22 was instrumental in helping us get promoted. He was almost 34 at that point in time.
L Right! It didn’t help you stay in the BL though. Terodde didn’t do much to help any of his teams stay in the BL. I think he scored 15ish in 100 BL matches. He could ever replicate his 2BL numbers in BL. Shame. I quite liked Terodde. Always thought he was a guy MLS teams should have chased.
I mean, can you blame us? Gio-watchers are better off waiting until after the summer to pay attention again, imo.
13 minutes of stoppage time and multiple yellow cards in that time for Dortmund. With stoppage Gio played 24 minutes.
