Reyna was a 90th minute sub in a 1-1 home draw for Dortmund against Bayern. Dortmund had led most of the match but gave up a late equalizer (just prior to Reyna's appearance) to Musiala.
Could have been a "no touch" cameo... but happy that he is even healthy enough to get a run out for a few games in a row.
Hey, he had one pressure moment where he forced a guy to make a bad pass out of bounds. He was active trotting around and pressing high, not much else to do unfortunately. The fact that coach put him in in a critical game and moment is a positive. Too bad it wasn’t sooner.
He ran around like a headless chicken for a minute, so he should be given the reigns of every team he ever plays on.
I'm not sure if the coach giving him a solitary minute at the very end of the game is a reward or punishment
When you haven't played much informer would you rather train and stay on the bench or get that minute? Claw, fight, scratch, grind until you're all the way back.
they were up by 1 until the last few minutes against Bayern. Gio is not the type of player, particularly coming off a very long hiatus, that you sub in for key defensive duty. Once Bayern leveled he came on but it was at the very end. Wouldn’t read into it beyond that
Agreed but Gio is good at keeping the ball. That might be a valid strategy for protecting a lead. Although I wouldn’t try it against Bayern.
Great news! I can't remember the last time he started a match for Dortmund. Hoping for a great, injury free performance!
It's a pretty important game too. Dortmund and Barcelona are tied on points and both sitting just above the line, based on goal differential, that would qualify them directly for the Round of 16.
It's actually impressive how long both his and Adams layoffs have been without a single, specific significant injury. Dest is going to have a shorter break between starts despite having an ACL tear.
73 minutes for Reyna tonight, which more than doubles his total minutes for the season, and is his longest outing at club level since March 2023.
The minutes are nice, but he wasn't nearly as involved as you'd like. Pascal Gros did much better after coming on for him. Yes, against one of the top teams in the world, and happy for the surprise start when there were legitimate alternatives, but he's not near top form.
Yeah. I was kinda surprised that they started him in such a big game after such a long layoff. He played okay. Had a great ball in the buildup to the goal called back. I hope his minutes continue to grow.
What? Only 73 minutes? I heard that if he goes to Chicago Fire, he can play 300 minutes in a single game.
