Could it be that they often play quite young players who get over worked? Reyna and Pulisic sure fit that bill. I have hope that Reyna will eventually grow out of it like Pulisic did.
Max Bretos theorized that the lack of minutes is also a big culprit. Even when Gio is healthy, he rarely starts and plays spot minutes as of late, so even when fit, his body is not conditioned to deal with any exertion. He is on a constant rollercoaster of injuries and then minimal minutes. Bottom line: he needs to leave (BvB won't mind at this point, despite the $ loss) and go play wherever he can play every match - whether that be Austin, Go Ahead Eagles, Nantes, Venezia, Tampa Bay Rowdies; it matters not, if he wants to have a sustainable career.
I think that's part of it, but they also ruined a mid-20s Reus and failed to handle Gotze's hormone issue. At Dortmund, that was functionally a career-ender, but he's played more than 2,000 minutes in each of the last 3 seasons at PSV and Frankfurt. Thorgan Hazard fell apart once he went there, Guerreiro basically always missed a third of the season, Delaney's career went off the rails there. They couldn't even keep Haaland healthy and he's basically a robot. Obviously I don't know how their medical staff works behind the scenes, but their track record is not good, and it seems notably worse than other comparable clubs.
He needs to get on the field. It doesn't matter where. When he gets 90 minutes fit, these nagging injuries will start to go away.
Kobel on Reyna: "Gio is a fantastic guy, I'm really good with him. We spend a lot of time together and unfortunately he had a hard time, the past few months with his injury but he's still really, really young and what he shows in training everyday is really special. Injuries are part of the game. I think for Reyna, some of it is bad luck, some of it is being a good offensive player who is targeted, and some of it is losing the genetic lottery.
Isn't that true for most players at most clubs? What I mean is, a roster may have 30-35 players, most of whom do not play that much. Are they getting hurt all the time? I think that is a red herring.
And some of it is his personality. He loves to talk smack and get under defenders' skin. As a result he gets hacked...as a fan I enjoy the spectacle but it's something he has to tighten up.

this can't be real. that somehow looks even worse and less nutritious than an actual lunchable. and also less fun.
