Ian Bishop is player coach for the New Orleans Shellshockers this season. But here is the interesting stuff:

It may represent a far cry from his days as a terrace favourite at Maine Road and Upton Park but Bishop, who turns 39 at the end of the month, will then coach a team in the American A-League next March before setting up his own soccer camps across Florida.

Then later on in the article:

After playing here, I'm going to coach sides in the A League next March and then set up my own soccer camps. I've got the contacts through my previous time here and there are people out here who are willing to back me financially to do it.

Or is this just Bishop tooting his own horn?

Hmmmm its possible. Last rumors I heard of A-League in South Florida involved Ray Hudson and Real Madrid. Who knows really. But I hope so!

But in the article he talks about looking for a home to buy in either Ft Lauderdale or Tampa. Hardly near each other, so maybe the South Florida team is hardly a lock.

Plus, he says he's going to coach in the A-League "in March." The timeline is a little vague there. He could have an invitation from someone (Syracuse, maybe? Didn't he play in Syracuse, or am I thinking of Ian Woan?) to help with preseason training next year, because the A-League season usually starts in April. Maybe he's not talking about becoming a full-time coach (head or assistant) with a new A-League team. I don't know. But I would imagine he's going to want to end up in Florida sooner rather than later, and A-League Florida rumors have been around for a couple of years now.
