The posted article says he was getting some baseline fitness tests done because he hadn’t been in full training with Young Boys to avoid injury. The article also mentions only three more friendlies before their first (cup) game of the season, so not much time to integrate into the team.
Switzerland and Germany have a midseason break at Xmas, but Switzerland's comes earlier and lasts longer so their season starts earlier. The fact that Pefok was held back from full (i.e. contact) training means that a sale was the plan for Young Boys as well as for him. There was no need to agitate for a move or any histrionics on his part. Anyway, why should there have been? They paid €2.5 million for him and are selling him for €6 million, with add-ons to come. His goals were a significant part of them winning the title in 2020-21 and he nearly doubled his league total last season, which means their not retaining the title wasn't down to him (doubling their goals conceded had a lot to do with it) and his winning goal against Man U gives Young Boys fans bragging rights for a generation or so.
Considering this season we had 12 players active in their league in Europe relegated --and it's possible we have up to 16 once the Swedish league is done, it's going to be tough to match such numbers next season. We'd need to have basically all of the ones left for that to happen.
With so many players active you need to include those going up and get a net plus or minus for each season going forward in order to compare.
Notes on his first practice: https://www.bz-berlin.de/berlin-spo...s-unions-neue-tormaschine-glaenzt-zum-auftakt At the beginning of the session he speaks to Malick Sanogo (17) – in French. Although both were born in the USA, Siebatcheu grew up in France. Otherwise Siebatcheu talks a lot with fellow newcomer Jamie Leweling (21 / Fürth). In English. Wednesday (6 p.m.) in Braunschweig Siebatcheu may celebrate his game premiere.
Man… should have thought about this thread update last week. A tiny tweet on current title with play on his whole name situation….. Jordan Siebatcheu (OLF Jordan Pefok) at Union Berlin

Played 90 in a 3-3 draw, but didn't score: The side from northern Italy ran into a two-goal lead but Union pulled one back through Rani Khedira towards the end of the first half. Urs Fischer's side equalised as Sheraldo Becker's cross was turned home by an Udinese defender, while Robin Knoche eventually levelled for a second time to make it three-all. https://www.fc-union-berlin.de/en/f...ail/-1-FC-Union-Berlin-Udinese-Calcio-16717n/
They ruled it an own goal. If you read the report, he was set to score, shot, but it deflected off the defender and in.

I thought Union was an interesting place for him. They do play a lot of crosses and like to get the ball into the box and create havoc. It fits in that regard. The rabid fanbase also expects hard work. Never stop running, etc. Put those two together and we may have something.
