For info. on assorted East Rutherford-area Polish WP stuff, the Bergen County Hooligans/ Furiat page has info (I can't read Polish) www.furiat.net I don't know what crew the folks who came to last nights match were from, but since Hammerfest (WP show) was on the same day as the Metro Match, my guess is folks who went there might show up next week. My hope is these folks won't sit in the ESC. I agree that the best response is to show numbers and our multi-racial composition big-time. That's the strategy for the RednBlack folks I spoke to. I've personally been kicked out before, years ago, (and let back in after having to request re-admission- I carry that letter with meI have no interest in starting trouble for other ESCers unless WPs provoke and security doesn't respond (then RednBlack will probably have to watch OUR backs when we leave the match!). The best thing that can happen is the WP's don't show, but we get some solid Polish support from non-WP folks, but there's no way in hell that I'm letting an organized racist eliment in the ESC. It's bad enough if their in the stadium, but NOT in a section where racism is an official no-no. Numbers and solidarity wil win the day. Greg
6 pages worth of nonsense. This thread pretty much sums up the ESC better than any thread I've ever seen on this site. 6 pages to discuss what? Absolutely nothing. 6 pages the day after an important game for us, and yet the longest running discussion on here has not a single word on the actual game. 6 pages of posturing, posing and prophetizing. 6 f(u)cking pages!!!!! Let's see.... if people were really bothered about these 3 clowns (ie: they were really doing something offensive), then why didn't someone actually DO something? Instead, there was a lot of gesturing and whatnot, and now there is a lot of flag waving and chest thumping on the internet. You wanna "take care of them"? Then step up to them and that's it. How about the ESC becomes a supporter club for the Metros and not a group concerned with stamping out racism? Then people wonder why the ESC doesn't grow. It's because the point of why you are there is missed time and time again. Eh... whatever. Who cares anyways.
I think that's called a Maltese cross. As for the KKK -- it is notoriously anit-Catholic and anti-foreign, long with all the other baggage. Poles would be targets of hatred on at least two counts, so to align them with the Klan makes as much sense as a partnership between Hamas and B'nai Brith. Those guys were full of beer and energy. Once Juskowiak gets in the lineup, we can expect a Polish platoon in 101 -- and they ain't shy when it comes to singing!
not the cross on the back of his jacket. The one on his scarf. it's not strictly a kkk symbol. I've been told it's a "nordic symbol of racial purity."
By the way, one of the Poles turned to me and asked what I thought of Timmy going to ManU. I said I thought it was great -- for Timmy and MLS recognition. The guy was very high on Timmy; he thought it ws absolutely fantastic that he would go from Metro to a starter, "on a top team in the world." Not a note of racism did I detect. And during the match they never cursed the team for bad play, just sang harder and louder to encourage them. I found that pretty refreshing in the light of my own cynical atitude about the team and a number of players.
God forbid those poor, impovershed stop living off my tax money and walk down to McDonalds and get a phucking job. I am so sick of this liberal crap. There are so many jobs out there (if you don't think so then go drive around a big city and look at all the now hiring signs) but some people just want to do nothing and get paid for it, while myself and a lot of other people (of all political beliefs) work their asses off and get to send tax money to these people. Now if these guys were giving nazi salutes and carrying scarves with white power symbols them they should be banned from the stadium! Oh and one last thing, thankl God Bush was president on 9/11 and not Mr. Internet, trees before lives Al Gore!
3 poles and 6 pages.., jeez! OK, the NJSEA can't stop anyone from coming into the stadium just for their beliefs and the symbols on their clothes. But they can make sure no one without tickets that say 101 on them can get into our section. Hopefully, no ESC members are going to get ticket for them. Should someone tell the security to check everyone's tickets? They rarely check mine.
Re: Re: Them CRAZY Poles!! 100,000,000? Maybe you should read a history book. It definitely has. And yes there've been fights but I haven't witnessed racism.
As far as I'm concerned, as long as George Bush continues to protect his father's Saudi business partners, the people who funded 9/11, he has American blood on his hands.
Hey Rush, dont you have to add your stupid almost deaf, formerly fat, incorrect opinion to Monday Night Football Your president is a failure. And this is from a real conservative. Answer is simple. Check the tickets. I am sure the Poles didnt have seats in 101, so they should have been moved to their correct seats. Problem solved.
Do you guys remember the game against FC Bayern two years ago? ESC was chanting: "same old germans, always cheating" I confess I felt uncomfortable hearing that. I am not german, but I am sure there are a lot of ESC'ers that are descendants of germans. They must have felt uncomfortable too. I wish ESC would never become a hate group (based on race, nationalities, etc) I think, we as a group, should avoid any such displays. I couldn't go to the game last saturday, but if the Polish skinheads were giving any indications of racism, we should take this situation very seriously.
This is a bit absurd......the ESC chants "same old {insert team} to just about any team that comes into the Swamp. I think equating chants about cheating with racism is proposterous and borderline absurd. There is a fine line that the ESC walks with humor; there is nothing wrong with a good crack or joke, whether it includes ethnicity or not. The problem comes when speech encourages hate or violence, this is the key problem to chants like "They Shot the Wrong Diallo" or the Polish antics of last Saturday night. The position of the ESC appears to be that humor and racial humor is even allowed (note the ribbing done when Metro played Itallacacho of Venezuela or the "Are you Colombians in disguise?" when Ecuador had a doubleaheader last year) provided its not hateful, demeaning, or racist driven. I have heard precious little if anything in 101 over the course of many years that would ammount to racism, which is why this issue is of importance.
Not that I'm trying to exclude fans that are not in ESC, but this is thread has turned into an ESC issue not a Metrostars issue. Can this discussion be moved to the ESC Yahoo group? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Metros_ESC/
Re: Re: Them CRAZY Poles!! Yes they murdered a tremendous number of people, but if approaches 40 million I would be surprised. That is an indefensible number, but you totally ruin your argument when you inflate it to "hundreds of millions"
No he just has a problem with anyone with an intelligent opinion that doesn't fit his agenda...like most liberals!
Wrong. I have a problem with you sticking your nose in these threads to regurgitate the morning's talk radio. By the way, have you ever been in 101? And do I have to spell it all for you, too, BillR4??? Christ, it takes a card-carrying Socialist to tell all you guys that we have a political forum on BigSoccer, so take it over there. This thread WAS about the situation in 101.
This is stupid. 3 Poles show up and you guys go nuts. Tis a shame there is 7 pages of this crap. Sure I probably contributed to this crap, but it is still crap non-the-less... Did any of you NOT have a good time at the game because of them? No. We are all bitching because the Metrostars played like crap and ESC wanted a scape goat! (far fetched ehh?)
Yes, it is far fetched. If you want to find wastes of threads, I suggest you click "Search for all posts by NYR Metros" (or whatever that link says). If anything, this thread will make us more aware of what's going on in our section. Hopefully we will stop a problem from ever happening. I wasn't at the last game, and I'm glad you've shared your thoughts on last week, but if we are apathetic to this, it's just as bad as accepting racism. And I'm sure you won't be very happy when you're on TV standing next to a guy who's wearing white power symbols.
