Nah, that ship sailed. The Dickens Cider thread and OT forum have been dead for years now. But I do miss those old English bastards that used to roam these boards. Nowadays we've just had to develop/exercise our tune-out-filters more and more, just like I figure the folks on Twitter have had to do in recent years. Proud to say I never signed up in that swamp, even before it took a big wrong turn.
Interesting new approach to loans. Looking at last season, 14 youth players went out on loan in the fall. After the January window, that number swelled to 17. Right now, I count two youth players on loan. Charles Sagoe, Jr is at Shrewsbury Town in League One. And Jack Henry-Francis is at Sligo Rovers in Ireland. Feels like a decision has been made that most of these loans are not productive and they are better off playing u21 in PL2.
It feels like the youth were culled, so maybe there isn't a need for loans in the hope they get time.
I do think that is part of it, a lot of the loaned players are now gone. There are a handful - Salah, Butler-Oyedeji, Monlouis, Edwards - who went on loan last season and did not this fall. Maybe just holding off until January. I don't know what the deadline is, looking at last year's thread I posted on the 11th and had most of the loans accounted for. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2023-24-arsenal-players-on-loan.2127545/

A bit of a niche question but reports have said before moving to United, Chido signed a scholarship early at 14 at Arsenal but has left as a free agent and Man United are only due to pay compensation. Does anyone here know how that works, in regards to signing a scholarship early at 14 and somehow managing to leave as a free agent? Surely, it means the registration goes from 14 to 18? Can I have some clarity please?
Thanks mate. Another question I have is if a player wants to cancel his scholarship contract, can the club stop him from doing so? Can a club forcefully keep a player under their registration even if that player wants to leave or cancel their contract?
Thanks, One more question… If a player’s 17th birthday is outside the transfer windows (June to August or the whole of January) and he’s already signed a scholarship at one club but wants to move to another club on a professional deal outside the transfer window, could that deal happen then and have there been cases of that ever? Would the deal have to happen when the transfer window is open?
