Big win on the road 0-1 over a similarly situated club, but still 6 points of out of playoffs. Could make it more likely that we loan out a crack or two or three (Miranda, Puig, Oriol Busquets, Wague, others) if we cannot manage to get back to Segunda, which looks to be the case absent a nice winning streak.

Barca B came from behind to win 2-1, still outside of playoffs but a couple more wins could get them in range.

Barcelona's UEFA Youth League side side will play Lyon this Tuesday at 18:00 CEST in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Youth League. The winner of the tie will book their place as one of the final four teams in the competition - neutral site final four in Nyon. They are looking to make it to their fourth final stage in this competition, after having lifted the trophy on two previous occasions back in 2013/14 and 2017/18.

Lyon got through to the quarter-finals after overcoming Ajax on penalties. One player in particular to look out for is the French-Tunisian starlet Hamza Rafia, who has been capped for the France youth side and who is one of Lyon's brightest young talents.

Porto and Midtjylland will play on the same day, while Hoffenheim take on Real Madrid and Dinamo Zagreb face Chelsea on Wednesday.

All 5 goals, narrated by an excited French man:

The Barca jerseys are so nice without the Rakuten, just Unicef on the lower back, senyera on back collar, front is just the crest and Nike's swoosh, no Rakuten makes all the difference. Wish our first team still dressed like this.

Dinamo Zagreb led 2-0 but Chelsea scored twice in the final 13 minutes to force penalties which they won 4-2.
So Barcelona v Chelsea in the semifinals in Nyon on Aprl 26.

In the last of the quarterfinals Hoffenheim at home currently leading Real Madrid 2-1 in the second half on a rain-soaked pitch.
Winner to play Porto in semis.

Too bad Chelsea advanced, but it is the semifinal I predicted and I also predicted that the winner of that match will win the whole thing, which I will stick with, though Porto looked very good yesterday.

Halftime at the moment, still 1-0 in Nyon, but this stream is in English and really crisp, though you get a few pop up tabs before the volume finally comes on, not too bad I just deleted them. https://www.t20match.website/ch2.html

Barca youth still up 1-0 in CL one-legged neutral site semifinals, Barca women conclude their semifinal CL two-legged match on the 28th at home after winning in Bayern (big if away goal rule in effect), and Barca men play semifinals starting next week. Good year for Barca already but can we bring home any of the three trophies?

Damn, tied 1-1 in Nyon. Terrible pass by our goalie right to their forward, who passed to another forward who had a clear shot.

Quick response by Barca for 2-1, shot from outside is spilled by the keeper and Barca's Fati is first to blast in the rebound.

Tied again, pass over the top to a possibly offsides player who heads it back to Charlie Brown for his 2nd goal. 2-2, PKs come immediately at the end of regulation if there is no more scoring.

4 minutes of stoppage time just started.

Lost on PKs 5-4 on the 6th kicks by each team. Barca had the early advantage when Chelsea's 2nd PK taker skied his shot over, however Barca's 4th PK taker did the same thing, so it went to extra kicks all level at 4 a piece, Chelsea scored, then Chelsea's keeper made the first save for the place in the final vs. Porto.

[IMG]Many clubs have been after him for some time and he is finally leaving. Xavi Simons. Wish I could say I wish him the best but given that PSG, Mino Raiola, and 1.6M instagram followers are involved, screw that, I hope he has a crap career - mind you no injuries or anything bad, just not living up to the hype which has surrounded him for years (I know the hype machine is not his fault, but I think his team have been keen to exploit the hype machine for many years). https://www.sport-english.com/en/ne...mons-is-leaving-barca-to-sign-for-psg-7565454

Some of this may just be spin after he left but this says that the 16 y.o. who looks like the love child of Ronaldinho and Puyol with the name of Xavi, will not actually be missed in La Masia. That he was not a great team player, that they have more talented young cracks, that he was almost not offered a new contract at all...

    https://www.sport-english.com/en/ne...y-xavi-simons-departure-from-the-club-7566850

"Now we can breathe easily," admitted some people associated with La Masia. It wasn't easy dealing with a 16-year-old who was already known worldwide and incredibly popular across social media. He was a star off the pitch but less of one on it.

Ends on a more upbeat note as it mentions others who have stayed, albeit for more money than we used to give to 16 year olds:

Barça know this stage of a player's development is where players can accept much larger contracts from England, Germany, Italy and France. Although this season has seen a change in that policy with bigger deals offered to Ilaix, Antsu, Balde, Alba and Casadó.
